Adeneus
Disclaimer: I don't own anything in Bioware's Dragon Age universe.
A story idea that came to me recently from reading Fenris x Lady Hawke fanfics. An old theme, with a new twist. I'm imagining a series of oneshots, snapshotting the larger plot. At the moment, I'm struggling to find motivation to get all my ideas written out.
Pairing: Friendmanced Fenris x Mage!LadyHawke (Spirit Healer/Force Mage)
Oh, and Adeneus ("a-deh-nay-us") is a name I made up (at least, I haven't come across it in any name books before).

The lights in the hovel were all but extinguished when the noise at the door roused Starjumper from his exhilarating dreams of chasing down rats and slathering over mountainous dishes of chunked meat. Snuffling blearily, he watched as his mistress and her friend - the red-headed lady with freckles - entered the shack's barren front room silently. Too quickly, his mistress turned and slammed the bolt on the door home before treading the several steps to where he lay on a shabby rug against the wall and flopping down beside him.
Sensing distress, the mabari whined and lay his head on her thigh, wondering...
She smelled different. Not for the first time in the last few weeks he dismissed the slightly heady, sweet smell drifting from her legs.

"Please stay," Teryssa asked softly, "I don't want to be alone tonight, and I don't want to sleep."
Aveline's face grew concerned, and she drew a rickety chair close to Teryssa and sat, leaning towards the nearest table to restore to life the last of the dying candles. A flash of irritation for the danger seized the former soldier - Carver must have been last to sleep. Only he would leave lit candles alive after bed. - before her thoughts spun back to poor Hawke. She felt so sorry and so awkward. "I'll stay, Hawke." A pause, then: "Our year is up. There's a blessing in that, at least. We'll never have to see... any of it again."
"Yes, but... my sickness hasn't passed. Aveline, I am my father's daughter: a healer, and I can feel-" Here, Teryssa brought one slender, pale hand to hover over her navel, "there is a child."

I've put this prologue up to see if others would be interested in me exploring this. Opinions are welcomed.
