Chapter 1A soft wind to the northwest filled the sails of a medium-sized ship. The wood was so light; it almost appeared white against the sapphire-colored sea. The masthead consisted of huge white quartz carved in the shape of a star. This ship, the Polaris, was one of the fastest ships in the entire ocean, only matched by the Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman. A young woman of twenty stood on the ships stern balcony. You would think that she was the captains wench, but that would be kind of hard since she was the captain. The double doors behind her opened, reveling a young man of twenty-five.
"Captain, were coming up on the Pearl."
She dismissed him with a nod of her head and "come up on the port side and throw the ropes." He nodded and left her to her peace. Her beautiful ice blue eyes looked out across the water, while she was lost in thought.
"It will do me good to see Jack. And Will. It's been so long since we last saw each other."
She smiled as the stern of the Black Pearl appeared on port side. She turned, walked through the double doors and her stateroom, through her study and out on to deck to cross over to the Pearl
" Tierza, love! It's been too long!" Jack exclaimed as she swung over.
" It has. Now where you be of too?"
"We are looking for a…
…Ship!" Jack interrupted Will
"Oh really? Mind if I tag along?"
" Oh course not" Jack smiled and happily said. Joshua or, as Tierza called him, Josh, her first mate, cast his eyes downward as she replied.
"But captain, what about J-"
She quieted him with an unblinking stare.
" I will travel on the Black Pearl. Josh, take the Polaris and restock at Nassau. I will call you if I need you."
" Aye Captain" he replied.
The crew loaded some of Tierza's essential items on to the Pearl. As she sailed away, Josh wandered what was instore for his captain. He had a bad feeling that it would be awhile before he saw her again. He didn't know how right he was.
