The jingling sound of keys could be heard in the dark apartment, a sound that she was eager to hear whole day long because this was a sign from him telling her he was home, a sign from him telling her she was no longer alone.

"I'm back." He simply said.

She had learnt to love these two simple words. She had waited all day just to hear these words from him. Literally, there was nothing special about the words itself, what was special was what these words meant to her. I'm back meant he had come back home to her.

Followed his voice, she tried to search him in the dark and replied with their simple exchange, "Welcome back."

Always the incentive one between the two of them, he stepped out of the blinding shadow to her where pale silver moonlight penetrated the window forming a little spotlight around her, and hugged her thin frame so tight as though she would slip away like grains of sand if he let go.

"I missed you today." He murmured, face still buried in the crook of her neck, breathing in her sweet scent.

"I missed you too." She whispered softly, wrapping her small hands onto his broad muscular shoulder, one cheek touching his spiked hair.

"Then don't send me to work." He choked out. Soon… he knew.

"I'm sorry." She could understand his pain because they were both in pain. Soon… she knew.

"The moon…" They slightly parted.

"What about the moon?" He confused with the sudden change of topic.

"Is it full moon? I think I feel it, the moonlight feels so warm."

Hands retreated from his shoulders and turned upward, trying to feel the warmth better with her eyes closed.

He smiled for the first time in only god knows how long at the sight in front of him. She looked exactly like an angel standing under the silver light in her white nightie. His angel.

Scooping her up, bridal style, he said, "Yes, it's full moon."

Suddenly being lifted off the ground, her voice filled with surprise, "What… what are you doing!?"

"Giving you another kind of warmth." was all he said.

Laying her gently on the bed they shared, he took the empty side. Lying back down after covering them both from the cold November with the cotton blanket, his long hands wrapped around her upper torso, pulling her into him while his hands gently rubbed her cold hands.

Kissing her hair, he asked, "How do you like it?"

"Hmm… warmer than moonlight…" she spoke so softly he nearly missed it.

"I like it when you cuddle."

"If you like it, we can do this forever." Even if she doesn't have forever… I'll give up anything to be with her til the end.

"Forever…" she reached up one hand back into the cold air, "seems to be out of my reach…" she said with a smile but tears betrayed her.

Gently wiped away her tears, he said as he pulling back down her hand, "You've done well enough. I'll be with you no matter what."

She nodded. "This is all that matters." Finally, a genuine smile had found its' way on her pale face in a long time.

Hugging her tighter, he decided that he would give her all the warmth he could until the end because it was all that matters. They would be together until the time's up.
