"Is this even possible?" I stood in complete shock as the monster charged towards me, unscathed despite my best attacks.
I had gone into this corrupted dungeon in hopes of finding treasure, perhaps some sort special event item, instead I found a huge monster who seemed immune to every type of attack I threw at it. I automatically new that this was not your average monster, instead, it seemed to be some grotesque merge of several different monsters, covered in corrupted binary. No doubt in my mind: I had encountered some kind of bug in the data.
Every inch of my body itched to tear off my FMD and completely reset my terminal, but as usual, my dangerous side won out: I couldn't take my hands off of the controller, I had to know what this thing was. I had to know why this thing wasn't taking damage! "Ugh!" I mumbled as I started taking heavy damage, "What kind of event is this?"
Behind the computer my hands shook, the controller in my hands was soaked in sweat, and yet, against every fiber of my being, I could not stop battling the monster. With every hit I took, my body seemed to grow more and more disconnected. It was almost as if I had no control of my real-world self, like some kind of force was being exerted over my body, one that kept me from ripping off my FMD and resetting my terminal.
"I.." I stared up at the corrupted monster in awe, "I can't win!"
That startling realization seemed to freeze every part of my body. Try as I might, my fingers refused to obey my commands. I could do nothing but stare up at the giant corruption with my mouth hanging open, dumbfounded.
Using my paralyzed state as an opening, the monster charged towards me. Still unable to move, I had no choice but to watch as the monster drained the last of my HP using some strange power. Right at the moment my HP hit zero, I heard a sound, barely audible, but still there.
Questions raced across my mind, "Who was this? What was this? How could this happen? Hiro...!" My world went black.
