Vaguely As the Morning Mist
She knows better than to mistake unacceptable realities with lost possibilities.
She is never one to be easily surprised. No, the experiences from her youth have taken such simple pleasure away from her grasp. Well, at least, that's what Blossom has thought before she witnessed the most unlikely scene to suddenly play right before her very eyes.
She blinks several times before her coral eyes widen in disbelief. She forces herself into looking away; it is an intimate moment, too intimate that it makes her feel guilty to even witness it. And judging by how well hidden they supposedly are, they never intended to be seen by anyone. So she flies as quickly as she could as her cheeks get warmer and warmer.
For some reason, she finds herself feeling somewhat betrayed…though, she doesn't have the right to feel that way, she doesn't have the right to tear her eyes out. She has lost her chance.
The scene replays time and time again, in moments she least desires it to. She cannot stop it; she cannot control her traitorous thoughts.
She turns to her left as she feels a hand on her shoulder. She is met with Bubbles concerned gaze.
"You okay, Blossom?" she asks.
She wants to answer truthfully. She wants to cry in her sister's shoulder and pour her heart out over the loss of what could have been. But she doesn't.
Because Blossom is the smart one and she knows better than to mistake unacceptable realities with lost possibilities.
So she shrugs off her sister's hand and continued writing her essay on the toxic waste that is now threatening in the southern part of their beloved city.
Blossom is a fool, an absolute fool. A week has passed since the incident and she still finds herself moping about it. Though despite that, she is quite proud of herself that no one excluding Bubbles (who knew her best) has noticed her sullen mood.
Now that she has caught them in one of their intimate moments, it was easier to see the things that once passed her notice.
They were subtle at best. Subtle touches. Subtle smiles. With eyes like hers, she wonders how in the world has she not notice all of this before.
Her heart clenches as she watches them flirt elusively from the corner of her eye.
She stares at her reflection with her fingers in her red locks. She finds the urge to dye them brown and wear perhaps she should start wearing contacts as well. Then he'll probably fa—she shakes her head. No, never change yourself for anyone. He isn't worth it. This isn't worth anything.
As days passed by she finds herself feeling better and better. She still notices them but it surprises her once again, that their subtlety is getting less and less until people even his brother who, for the lack of better adjectives, are quite dim start noticing.
It'll only be a matter of time before they start going public, Blossom knows this and she is happy that her heart doesn't clench as much as it used at the thought of them together.
She doesn't walk past them without a sincere smile on her face as she greets them a good morning.
She is surprised once again to see a smile and not smirk from Brick's face as his red eyes shown extreme relief when he greets her right back. Robin smiles prettily at her and softly greets her.
When Blossom reaches several meters from the couple, she turns her head around and watches as they hold each other's hand and went on their merry way.
Her smile broadens at the sight.
I do not own any of these characters, this is for enjoyment purposes and nothing more.
So basically, this is a one-sided Blossom x Brick story. Oops...
