Monday
Ryan and Dwight met up in the break room to discuss their diabolical plan to take down Jim. Dwight, because he felt he deserved the promotion that Jim got and Ryan, because he's wanted to get back at him for embarrassing him in front of the entire office, relocating him to the closet and because he didn't have anything better to do.
"I'm glad you included me in this, Dwight."
"My pleasure, just don't screw this up on me, temp."
"I'll try not to."
"Ok, here's my plan, with the new bosses, we make Jim seem really incompetent, that he's horrible at his job, and not to believe a word he says because he recently suffered a nervous breakdown."
"Nope, nope, nope."
"What are you talking about? This plan is fool-proof."
"You're trying to get him fired, trying to ruin him professionally. What you need to do is completely destroy his personal life, get him to the point where he'll quit his job and you'll be the new co-manager."
Dwight was intrigued.
"Go on."
"Tell me, what's the most important thing in Jim's life right now?"
"This job."
"Nope."
"His office."
"Wrong."
"His car."
"Sorry."
"His house?"
"Getting warmer."
"I give up, what is it?"
"Pam, he lives and breathes for her, he'd lie down in traffic for her."
Dwight responded with a disgusted groan.
"I know, he's an idiot" Ryan said, "but, what if, his beautiful little bride wasn't as faithful to him as he thought?"
"What's your plan?"
Tuesday
Dwight and Ryan thought their plan went off without a hitch, and they thought they had succeeded when Jim and Pam came in looking very pissed off.
"Excuse me, guys, can I get a quick moment everybody" Jim said.
"What's up, guys? Trouble?" Dwight said feigning innocence.
"Yeah, you could say that, Dwight. Listen, whoever here thinks it's funny to make prank phone calls, it's not, so, maybe we should cut that out."
"Whatever are you talking about, Jim?" Ryan said also feigning innocence.
Pam chimed in, "we got home last night and there was a message on our machine from someone claiming to be our doctor saying that they did a test and found out that the baby isn't Jim's."
The office gasped at this.
"You cheated on Jim?" Kevin asked.
"Typical" Angela muttered.
"I didn't cheat on Jim."
"Well, now, how are we supposed to believe that, the doctor did perform that test."
Dwight said, throwing fuel on the fire.
"Glad you asked, Dwight" Jim started to say, "first off, the message was a man's voice...our doctor is a woman."
Dwight's eyes shot open at this.
Pam continued"second of all, we checked the caller I.D. and it said the call came from a pay phone."
Ryan looked up, rather concerned at this.
Jim finished up "third, and this is probably the biggest hole in this whole thing, if our doctor had news like that & couldn't reach us at home, she knows to call us at work or our cell phones, so, whoever did this, don't do it again or there will be consequences."
Jim and Pam went off to their work stations and things quickly went back to normal, and after a while Dwight and Ryan went to meet up in the break room again.
"Nice plan, moron."
"Hey, don't blame me, Dwight, you're the one that said women couldn't be doctors."
"Hey, the payphone was your idea."
"I thought they'd be so devastated, they wouldn't think to check. Look, don't worry, we'll think of another plan."
"We? Sorry, kid, I gave you a shot and you failed, I'll think of something else on my own."
"Oh, come on Dwight, I can still help you."
"Sorry" Dwight said before leaving the break room.
"I'll show him, I'll think up my own plan, get Jim fired, get the happy couple divorced and be successful all before Dwight...now, how the hell am I gonna do that?"
