I've finished my work today. Like every day in my bored and sad life I've let Yoshino at the office and I've started my way to my house. When I entered into my small house I'm concerned that I'm completely alone, no one is waiting for me at home. My dear Nagisa died five years ago when Ushio born. Since then, a shadow has chased me to every place I go, the shadow of the past, the shadow that remembers me the pain that Nagisa's absence causes in my chest, concretely in my heart. I always criticized my father but… Now I'm starting to understand his situation and I want to be like him because despite of the loss of my mother he always cared of me, he never left me alone. However, this is what I've been doing with my little daughter, who is afraid of me. She is scared because I haven't passed time with her during five years. I'm not a very good father, no. If I could go back in time just five years, everything would be very different but the life, sometimes, is unfair. Nevertheless, I want to change, I want to recover all the time I've lost because I have to forget what happened five years ago, I have to start a new life with Ushio.
It's late at night and I'm in front of Nagisa's tomb. I've come here to make her a promise. The promise that I'm going to protect the most precious thing I've got. That precious thing that I was looking for so far from me but it was so near from me, just by my side. I promise Nagisa to protect our daughter from now until the end.
