"What the heck are we watching?" Dot Warner asked as she plopped beside her brothers Yakko and Wakko on the couch. "The video for the Macarena." Wakko answered as he stuffed himself silly with popcorn. It was 1993, July 23rd to be exact. The Macarena had been around for several months now, and almost everyone on the lot seemed to agree on one thing. That song was annoying.. but boy was it catchy!
"Why are you doing this to yourselves? The song is… is…" Just then Dot had the urge to get up and do the dance. The song's powers were working their weirdness on her! She needed to get out of that room, or turn the television off, before it was too late. Luckily for her she had the perfect idea.
"Well considering there's nothing good on we figured what's the harm in attempting to learn a new language?" Dot's oldest brother, Yakko, the voice of reason in the family, answered with a shrug as he reached over to the bowl of popcorn Wakko was holding to scoop up a handful of his own.
"Well stop trying!" Dot snapped, snatching the remote from Wakko's hand and turning the television off.
"We have a sketch to write."
"But Saturday's my lazy day Dot!" Wakko whined as he slumped back into the couch.
"It's a five minute cartoon Wakko. I think you can handle it."
"Besides after we're done writing it we'll have to go and stop by Steven's office for approval. We all love visiting the Great One." Yakko added, a slight smirk on his face. Wakko's eyes got wide and soon he was on his feet.
"Well what are we waiting for? Lets write ourselves a script!"
"I think it should be a music video. We haven't done one in a while." Yakko said.
"With lots of sparkles!" Dot beamed, her eyes sparkling themselves.
"No," was Wakko's immediate response, gagging slightly.
"No sparkles." Yakko agreed.
"How come? We always do what you guys wanna do! I'm the one who-"
"NO SPARKLES!" Her brothers cut her off in perfect unison. This caused Dot's face to turn a shade of red. A dark shade of red.
"Great! It's been decided. No sparkles." Yakko said as he turned on his heel, heading towards the kitchen.
"Thanks for being such a great sport Dot." Wakko teased before following in his brother's footsteps.
"I'm gonna write my own sketch." Dot mumbled to herself, knowing full well her brothers could hear her perfectly fine from the other room.
"Fine!"
"Go ahead. Lets see how well you can do on your own."
"FINE!" Dot snapped before turning on her own heel and going in the opposite direction of her brothers. The bedroom. That's where she needed to go. For some reason that was the first place that always came to mind for her whenever she was in need of a quiet place to think. Once inside the bedroom Dot slammed the door shut and locked it. If her brothers were going to be jerks about this they wouldn't have access to the room for a few hours.
"Time to get to work." Dot pulled a pencil and pad of paper from her hammer space before making her way across the room to her bed. She got under the covers and leaned back against the bed frame. The pillow was there to give her comfort.
The first half of her time alone was spent thinking of a song. A catchy song. And when she finally found the song she wanted to work with the lyrics seemed to flow right out of her.
"Dot is a nut so they call her Macadamia
Whenever she gets mad you'll experience painia
Cuts and bruises you will sustania
Oy Macadamia!"
And that, ladies and gents, is the story of how Macadamia Nut came to be.
