A Heart of Gold
It was like any other day in Konoha, birds were chirping, a perfectly blue, cloudless sky overhead. All was calm, a form of silence broken only by the mating call of sparrows. The silence broke at the clanging of metal, where team 7 was training, more specifically, Naruto and Sasuke were sparring, as Sakura watched, cheering on Sasuke and laughing whenever Naruto made a mistake.
Clang! Two kunai clashed. Naruto threw a suriken at Sasuke. A hollow thump was heard as Sasuke did the substitution jutsu, the suriken embedded in a log. Sasuke reappeared behind Naruto, and held a kunai up to Naruto's throat. Both were panting, and Naruto accepted defeat.
Yeah, Sasuke I knew you could cream him easily! Inner Sakura cheered. "Good job Sasuke," Sakura said softly. Sasuke replied with a grunt.
Kakashi nodded behind the team in approval. "Good spar guys, you're improving. Good effort Naruto, but remember that a person can reappear anywhere after having used the substitution jutsu."
"Alright Kakashi-sensei. Hey, can you teach me a cool new jutsu now?" Naruto asked eagerly.
Kakashi only buried his face into his X-rated book again.
A bird flew over to where Kakashi was sitting on a tree stump, leaving him a scroll. Kakashi sighed and put his book down, accepting the scroll and read it.
Kakashi,
Please report to the Hokage tower immediately. We have another member for your team, though they are three man teams, we can not refuse a student from the mist who wishes only to help make peace with Konoha.
