So, here is a re-write of New Brothers because I didn't like the original. I hope that you enjoy it!
"Leo! Wake up!" Mikey yelled while jumping on top of Leo, ripping the sheets off of the poor, raven boy. "Mom and Dad want to have a meeting with us in the Living Room! They said it was important!" (Sound familiar, New Brothers fans? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°), and, if you were wondering, yes, I am still gonna keep making that face. T-T)
"Okay, okay, geez, Mikey I'm getting up!" Leo said. He got out of bed and grabbed some jeans out of his dresser. He glanced at the clock. 5:00, geez! Whatever this meeting is about, it better be important! The blue eyed teen thought. He reached into his closet, grabbing out a blue shirt with a '25' on it. After he got dressed, he looked at the calendar. It read; 'January 22nd'. He hated this day. The whole family did. He glanced down at his phone, a picture of him and his sister as his screensaver.
He walked down the stairs and saw Mikey already there on the coach next to Tang Shen, Hamato Yoshi sitting on the chair. He took a seat next to Mikey. Their couch was big enough for four. *Wink, wink. Four turtles ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)*
"Hello, Leonardo." Yoshi greeted him. "So, boys, there is some news that we'd like to tell you before you head off to school. And I'm sure that Tang Shen would like to tell you the rest."
"Yes, I'd love to tell them, despite us both agreeing that you'd be the one to tell them." Shen said as she glared at Yoshi. "Well, we'd like to inform you about how when you get home, there will another boy here."
"What!" Both teens yelled in union.
"Well, me and your mother have been looking into adopting someone recently. Preferably a girl. But, there was a boy in need of a home named Donatello, and we decided that, maybe a boy would do..."
"Really! How cool! He could even join the Pizza Clan if he wants to!" Mikey said excitedly as Leo remained silent. He stared at his parents, not believing what was happening. Then he looked down, tears building up in his eyes, but he quickly blinked them away. He knew why this was happening. He knew exactly why this was happening. The date, they even said that they preferred a girl! They were trying to replace her, but Leo wouldn't let this happen. He couldn't let this happen!
"Hey, Leo, wanna eat lunch with me, Mondo, and Leatherhead?" Mikey asked, running up to the older teen who was putting his things in his lockers. He slammed his lockers and walked away. "Leo, wait up!" The blond teen yelled, running after Leo, who quickened his pace. "Leo, what's wrong?"
"Nothing. Go away." Leo said while trying to get away from Mikey.
"Leo, you've been acting weird all day!" Mikey said, then he remembered what had happened that morning. "Leo, is it about the kid who's showing up this afternoon?" Leo grabbed Mikey by the hand and dragged him out to the back of the school.
"Mikey, do you know what day it is?" Leo asked him.
"Uhh... Monday?" He asked. I should have known better than to ask that! Leo thought as he face palmed.
"No! It's January 22nd! Do you remember what happened on this date?" Leo asked him.
"Miwa died. She died on January 22nd..." Mikey said, tears building up in his eyes. Leo's expression softened.
"Yeah, and they're only adopting this kid so that they can replace Miwa! They even said that they wanted it to be a girl" Leo said. Now, he felt tears building up in his eyes. But they both just blinked them away.
"Leo, that doesn't mean that we're going to treat Donatello bad, okay?" Mikey asked. "It's not his fault that this is happening."
"Yeah, I guess you're right..." Leo said.
When they both got home, they saw a car parked outside of their house. There was a boy, about their age, except taller, coming out. He had a purple button up shirt and white pants. He had glasses, with brown eyes underneath them. His hair was brown. "Leo, look, that must be the new kid!" Mikey shouted as he ran up to him.
"Hey are you Donatello? I'm Mikey! And this is Leo!" He said as he pointed to Leo, who looked away from Donnie.
"Uhh, yeah I'm Donatello. Are you guys the kids of the people who adopted me?" The tall boy asked.
"Yeah!" Mikey said. As he grabbed one of Donnie's suitcases. "Here, I can carry these!"
"Yeah, and I can carry these ones. Your probably not strong enough to carry them anyway." Leo sneered. Mikey shot him a dirty look.
"So do you have a nickname?" The baby blue eyed boy asked. Donnie shook his head. "Ooh! I have a good idea! How about we give you a nickname? Tall guy? Glasses? Fancy Purple Shir-"
"How about we just call him Donnie?" Leo asked. Mikey nodded and ran into the house with the suitcase, followed by Leo and Donnie. Tang Shen and Yoshi were talking in the kitchen before they say them walk in. Donnie looked down at Yoshi's hand, a large scar. He forced to rip his brown eyes away from it. He had to be on his best behavior.
"Oh, hello, boys." Shen greeted, then the lang haired women looked at Donnie. "Hello! You must be Donatello!"
"Uhh, yeah, I'm Donatello..." He said in a weary voice.
"Great, boys, why don't you show him the guest rooms?" Yoshi asked. "And then afterwards, we can all get to know Donatello."
"Okay!" Mikey said as he gripped Donnie's arm with his free hand and pulled him up the stairs. "You're going to love the guest rooms!"
"So, you can have the red painted room, or you can have the purple room." Leo said as pointed to both rooms. "And, judging by your shirt, you'll probably want the purple room. Purple stands for royalty, you know. Spoiled, rotten, royalty!" Mikey shot him another dirty look.
"Umm... I'll go with the purple one then, I guess..." Donnie said, rubbing the back of his neck. They brought the suitcases in and left to go talk to Tang Shen and Hamato Yoshi.
"Okay, so we just wanted for Donatello to get to know you boys, and for you boys to get to know Donatello." Yoshi explained. Donnie and Leo looked at each other, and then looked back at Yoshi.
"Oh! I'll go first!" Mikey said as he jumped up into the air. "I like to play video games and eat pizza!"
"Good, Michelangelo, why don't we have Leonardo go second?" Shen asked, obviously trying to save Donnie for last.
"Well, I've been Student Body President since I was a Sophomore. I was beaten by one vote when I was running for Freshmen President." The blue eyed boy bragged.
"Great, now Donatello, it's your turn." Shen said. Donatello sat there silently for a little while, and then he began to speak.
"Well... I like... machines and... science..." The chocolate brown eyed boy said. Shen and Yoshi looked a little disappointed.
"Yes, well, me and Shen need to go to the store. How about you stay here with Leonardo, and Michelangelo can go with us?" Yoshi suggested. Mikey stuck his tongue out at Leo, and Leo glared back at Mikey.
"Yeah, I guess that would be fine..." Donnie said. He went up to his room to put his thing into his dresser.
Leo lay still in bed. He hated Donnie. He hated how his parents were replacing Miwa. He hated how he felt. Something he's never felt before. Rage. He walked downstairs and looked around in the fridge for leftover pizza.
"Hey..." A voice said from behind him. He looked around to see Donnie.
"What are you doing here?" Leo asked. His words surprised him. They were something that the bullies at school would say. Donnie looked at him confusingly.
"I live here now, remember?" Donnie retorted. "Is there something wrong? Have I been doing something wrong?"
"Yes, you have been doing something wrong!" Leo yelled, now unable to control what he was gonna do. He's never felt this way before. He's always been in control. "You're only here to replace Miwa because Mom and Dad can't live on without her!"
"What?" Donnie asked. "Who's Miwa?"
"Miwa was my sister! She died on our trip to Japan! And now Mom and Dad are trying to replace her with you!" Tears began to build up in his eyes, but he blinked them away. He couldn't cry, he never cried. "The story goes back a long time ago. Dad's Father found a kid in the forest named Oroku Saki. He raised him as his own. Him and Father were rivals in everything. One day, Father met Mother, and Oroku Saki grew jealous of their relationship and one night tried to burn Mother and Father's house down. Father rescued Mother and Miwa from the building. Mom was pregnant with me at the time. Everyone thought Oroku Saki was dead. But on our trip to Japan, he jumped out of a bush and attacked Father's hand, causing a scar. I saw you looking down at it earlier. Miwa tried to go after Shredder, resulting to what everyone thinks was her death. It took a lot of time for me to finally except the fact that she's dead. Mikey still thinks that she might be out there somewhere, but, I don't think that there's any chance she's still out there..."
"Leo... I'm sorry that that happened." Donnie said. "But, you could've had it worse. Your whole family could've died. That's what happened to me... My Mom, Kristaleen Timeson married a man before she married my dad. His name was Ethan Rockwell. Him and my mom had a child, he was my brother. His name was Tyler Rockwell. My mom divorced Ethan and fell in love with a man named Zayton Honeycutt. He was my father. He was a scientist, and he taught me and Tyler most of the things that we know. He had a secret lab in eastern Oregon, where he did experiments. He was teaching my mom how to drive, and she was getting better at it. One day, he let her drive us to school. There was a red light, but she didn't stop. They all died that night, Leo. My family died! And now they're gone forever!"
By this point, tears were streaming down Donnie's face, and Leo could no longer hold his tears back any longer. He pulled Donnie into a tight hug, and they cried together. And for the first time in a year, Leo felt like there wasn't such a heavy weight on his shoulders.
"Donnie! Wake up!" Mikey yelled while jumping on top of Donnie, ripping the sheets off of the poor, brown haired boy. (Does that sound familiar? Even if you didn't read New Brothers, you should still remember it because the same thing happened in the beggining of the story.) "It's time for school!"
"Okay, okay, I'm up!" Donnie said. He grabbed his clean clothes from his dresser and quickly got dressed. "Does he always do that?" Donnie asked Leo in the hallway.
"Yeah, you should get used to it soon." Leo said. They walked down the stairs and were greeted by the smell of pizza.
"Breakfast pizza is on the menu, guys!" Mikey said in excitement.
"Do you guys always eat pizza?" Donnie asked. Everyone nodded. "You know, you really shouldn't really do that. It's unhealthy."
"What? Who is this guy? He can't just come in here and try to tell us how to live our lives! Get him out of here! Call the police and tell them that there has been an intruder!" Mikey joked.
When they got off of the bus, the Principal had two kids show Donnie around. One of them was a redheaded girl with a yellow t-shirt that had a '5' on it that covered up a long, black shirt. She had jean shorts on, with black leggings underneath them. The girl next to her had black hair with purple streaks going through it. She had a black tank top with some symbol and a red striped tank top underneath it. She had a blue and black skirt on."Hey, my name is April, and her name is Irm-" She was cut off by some guy who looked older than them walking up to them.
"Hey, Red!" He said. Irma glared at him.
"Hey, Casey, aren't you supposed to be in class right about now?" Irma asked, obviously not amused by him being there.
"Like Casey Jones needs to learn anything today!" He said. He looked over at Donnie, who was checking out April. "Hey, who's the nerd?"
"Oh, that's just the kid we're showing around." The red headed teen responded. "So, you're a senior? You look more like a Sophomore..."
"Oh, well, I'm supposed to be, but held up two grades." The tall boy answered.
"Yeah, because that's exactly what we need around here, another nerd!" Casey groaned.
"Oh, come on! You're just jealous because you were held back the amount of times he was pulled forward!" April retorted, making Casey angry.
"April! I told you not to tell anyone about that!" The black haired teen yelled at April. Donnie looked at Casey curiously.
"You got held back?" He asked. He didn't mean any offense by it, he just really wanted to know.
"Yeah, I'm supposed to be a real adult right now! But no! Ms. Friggens just had to hold me back! Twice!" The hockey fanatic complained.
Mikey was putting his things in his locker when he felt someone tap on his shoulder. "Hello, Michelangelo, it's me again." Mikey turned around to see Slash, his worst bully, standing behind. He dragged Mikey out to the back of the school. He punched Mikey in the gut, and Mikey let out a cry of pain. "What? Does it hurt, comedian?" He punched him in the gut again. "Tell me it hurts!"
"It hurts!" Mikey screamed. "It hurts, okay?"
"That's what I thought!" Slash said. "I have places to be. Don't tell your goodie-two-shoes brother about this!"
"I won't! I won't tell him! I only told him that one time! It won't happen again!" He said to Slash, who left him there. Lucky for Mikey, he didn't hurt him to bad. He could probably hide it from Leo and his parents. He walked home and made up an excuse to why he was late.
"Boys, your principal just called, and he wants you to show a kid around." Shen said as she entered the kitchen, where everyone else was sitting eating dinner.
"Cool, what's their name?" Mikey asked, not even looking up from his pizza.
"Their name was Raphael." Shen said.
So, I brought back the New Brothers series. Except now, it has a New title and a new cover image. Please tell me what you think in the comments. Do you think that this one is better than the original?
