"Derek Morgan, you have not called me since the day before yesterday!" Penelope Garcia scolded her best friend worriedly as the team arrived home after a case gone bad. They'd lost twelve people, and the entire team was feeling down. Especially Morgan, who blamed himself.
As they turned down the hallway, separating from the rest of the team, Garcia struggled to keep up with Morgan in her pumps as he walked faster, almost as if he was trying to get rid of her. "You know, Penelope, I don't think this is a really good time to talk about this-"
"No, you are not going to just brush me off again! Derek, you had me worried sick. It isn't my fault that this case didn't turn out-"
"I know it isn't, Baby Girl, it's my fault, if anyone's -"
"It is not your fault! It's no one's fault but the unsub's! Just because a case went bad and you messed it up a bit doesn't mean that it's your fault that some psychopath is out there killing people!" she said, her voice rising slightly towards the end of her rant.
"It is my job to protect those people," Morgan said, stopping suddenly and turning to face Garcia. He was clearly getting angry.
"You know what? I'm getting a bit sick of your self-pity act! You've been doing this more and more often since Prentiss died, and -"
"Garcia, you've never even been in the field, so you have no idea what this is like! Shut up and don't give me this shit about understanding what it feels like -"
"Why don't you make me?" Garcia asked, hands on her hips and tears in her eyes as she glared at him.
"You know what? Fine!" Morgan shouted, quickly stepping forward.
Then he did something that neither of them expected.
He smashed his lips against hers in a passionate kiss of rage, which gradually became soft and gentle.
When he finally pulled back, they were both panting.
"Well, Penelope, that was -" Morgan began.
"-Yeah," she squeaked, blushing slightly as she looked away.
"I'll walk you to your car?" he offered, raising his eyebrows.
"Okay," she said, "Let me just go get my purse."
He watched her walk back towards her lair with a little smile gradually growing on his face, the case completely forgotten.
He wasn't exactly sure where this would go - or if it would even go anywhere - but he was already quite certain that he wouldn't give it up for the world.
