Journalism club today. Rebecca remembered her brain was full of thoughts for a good article.
The next thing she knew, her books were falling as she opened the door. She bent down to pick them up, as she brushed along someone's hand. A boy's hand.
She looked up to see a blonde-haired, blue-eyed boy. She had seen him around campus sometimes. She heard that he and Zoey Brooks were going out for a little while, but she broke up with him for Chase. Figures.
"Hey," he said.
She stared at him in awe. Why would anyone dare dump him??
"Are…you okay?" he said, after she didn't respond.
She nodded her head yes. She cleared her throat, and then, "Sorry."
"I should be the one apologizing," he said, flashing her a bit of his pearly whites.
"I should get going," she said, trying to pass him to avoid further embarrassment.
"You like journalism, right?" he asked, blocking the entry.
She nodded.
"That's cool," he nodded back.
She pulled out a piece of paper and a pen, "Maybe we could get Sushi Rox on Friday, or something. Here's my number."
He looked at the piece of paper and muttered, "Rebecca…"
She nodded, "Can I get in, please...?"
"James. And yes, it's a date."
---
"I love you," he admitted under a willow tree just a little less than 24 hours away until graduation.
He handed her a beautiful necklace (different from Zoey's...she had fallen into history).
Rebecca was usually a strong girl. She never let anybody see her cry. But there she was sobbing into her hands, right in front of James.
He wrapped his warm arms around her, "It's scary...but no matter what happens, we'll make it. No matter what obstacle is hurtled at us," and right there, he kissed her. There was a bittersweet feeling she could just barely taste. It only made her cry some more.
---
Despite all odds, she was finally here. She wanted so badly to run her hands through her professionally-done hair.
Her father appeared at her side, "Don't be scared," he said.
The music started up, and before opening up that door, she looked down at her necklace, "I love you," it read.
James Garrett loves her. She was about to marry him. She was thankful for that one day way back in senior year. The doors opened, and it was time for her to become Mrs. Garrett. She could hardly wait.
Anyway, a little Jamesbecca wedding drabble for the LJ challenge.
Tell me what you think ;)
