SEASON 1.
1. PILOT
"We've got work to do," Sam says flatly, throwing the loaded riffle into the trunk and looking at his older brother.
Sam's eyes are burning with something Dean's always secretly admired about him. Determination. And last time Dean saw that look in his brother's eyes was the day Sam left for Stanford.
The Winchester brothers are back on the road and memories whirl through Dean's mind.
The Impala has witnessed their childhood and teenage days, secret life and silent hopes, driving them from the bitter snow of Michigan to the inhospitable sand of Arizona, from one school to another, not long enough to make friends, but long enough to cross the path of evil creatures each more dangerous than the last. All that didn't matter. As long as they had each other.
Suddenly, a frozen memory of Sam at eighteen, wild and determinate. And leaving.
How long has it been since he last sat in the Impala?
Dean stopped counting the days, the weeks, the years, a long time ago.
He glances at Sam. He hasn't changed much over the years, or maybe he's grown an inch or two, and despite the sad circumstances, Dean can't help but feel happy to have his little brother -his Sammy- back by his side.
