All The Time In The World

Here's a one shot for y'all

Bakura stood in front of Marik's bedroom door, lost deep in thought. He had been over at Marik's apartment for a few hours, since he became bored, as usual. It had gotten dark outside, and Marik went up to his room and said he would be back in a few minutes. It had been 2 years since they first met, when Bakura had run in front of Marik's stolen motorcycle, as he later found out. He remembered that for that one and only time, he thought of Marik as someone truly evil as he was. Back then, he only agreed to be his partner (in crime) because of what he perceived that first day. Bakura thought that someone equally villainous would help him get what he wanted. But no, it was too good to be true. It had only been about 8 months ago that Bakura realized his feelings about Marik. Up until then, Marik had merely been some irritating pest that hung around like a mosquito, sucking up Bakura's time and energy.

But that one day, back in September, changed Bakura's opinion of Marik.

(flashback)

"Hey Bakura, look at the pretty leaves!" Marik yelled as he pranced about in the street. "Marik, I don't bloody care about stupid leaves. You know that," Bakura scowled from a few feet behind. He was sick and tired of Marik overreacting over such childish things. "You really need to grow up, Marik. I'm sick of you acting like this."

"But it's who I am, Baku. Plus you need to be happy,"Marik said, a bit softer than usual. Bakura stopped walking, his eyes open in shock. "W-what? How could Marik, of all people say that? That fool doesn't know anything about me!" Bakura thought in disbelief and anger.

No one can see through me…

He looked back at Marik, but he was back to marveling at the leaves gently floating down. "Idiot," Bakura murmured.

(end flashback)

It was that one time that changed Bakura's view of Marik ever so slightly, because it was then that he realized Marik could for once see what nobody else could.

From then on, Bakura had grown fond of him, not to mention noticing how sexy he was, but he never showed it. Bakura stood in front of Marik's door, thinking of what to do, what to say. But the truth clouded his mind and he couldn't push it away. He knew Marik was dull enough to miss all the signs, all the hints that Bakura liked him. He knew that as soon as he told Marik, he would be showered with questions and complaints. And worst of all, he knew Marik was oblivious to how much he affected Bakura, and that's what killed him so much.

Marik only saw Bakura as his partner in crime, nothing more. Marik didn't have to deal with the pain of unrequited feelings, or the loneliness of wandering the Earth for 5,000 years without someone to talk to. No, Marik could never understand. This hurt Bakura more than anything, that Marik had someone that cared about him and couldn't realize it.

But now's the chance, I can tell him how much I care, Bakura thought. He took in a breath of air and started to confess.

"Marik, I know you're in there, so listen. I care about you. A lot. But you can't see it, because I never show it, but I'm sorry. You were right, back in September, when you said that I needed to be happy. And I am, because of you." Bakura was practically yelling by now. " And you're an idiot, for making me do this. For making me so that I lo-"

"Akuha? Wha hare you doig ih funt of ma roo? Marik said, with his toothbrush in his mouth, poking his head out of the bathroom at the other end of the hall. Bakura just stood there, his mouth still open from yelling. He couldn't believe it. Marik had been in the bathroom the whole time. He didn't hear anything.

"None of your business, Marik. Go away." Marik shrugged and disappeared into the bathroom again.

Bakura then smiled to himself. "It doesn't matter. Besides, I have all the time in the world."
