Hiccup finished setting the table for four people. He sighed sadly, wishing there would be an extra plate but for the millionth time this year, his pleading wish was not granted. Ever since Jack was drafted to go to Iraq, Hiccup had prayed he would come home.

"Kids! Dinner!" The auburn haired man called to his children. As three kids of ages 12, 9, and 7 rush down to their father the grins they had vanish. They still didn't see the smile of their other father, or his bright white hair.

"Alexis come help me with the food," Hiccup asked his eldest daughter, "Aster please do not do anything to bug Emma for the minute that I will have my back turned." Aster nodded and sat down.

"Daddy?" Emma tugged on Hiccup's pant leg.

"Yes sweetie?"

"When do you think our other daddy will be home?"

"Emma-" his eldest daughter started to lecture her baby sister.

"It's Fine Alexis. Emma honey I don't know when he will be home. I'm sorry." the young father kissed her forehead and went into the kitchen.

"Dad are you OK?" Alexis asked, tucking a piece of white hair behind her ear.
"I don't know kiddo." Hiccup gently tugged on a piece of her hair, smiling fondly.

"Jack will be surprised. Your hair came out nice," Alexis smiled at her father. Their shared green eyes meeting.

"Well Emma and Aster are going to get restless, Get the sauce please," Hiccup replied grabbing a pot of noodles.

"Yay pasta!" Aster yelled. Hiccup chuckled. As the family sat down and ate, the sadness drifted away. The children laughed as Hiccup told jokes and old funny stories about the times he and Jack had spent together before they had gotten engaged.

"Did Dad really dye your shirts green?" Alexis asked between giggles.

"You better believe it. I'm actually wearing one he dyed now, it used to be stark white till he got his sneaky hands on it. But the point being-"

"God I have always hated when you said that." The table was silent. The three Frost kids looked up.

"Jack?" Hiccup turned around, and standing in the doorway was the man he had been waiting to see standing there for the past year. Jack Frost, his husband.

"Oh my god... Jack!" Hiccup shot up from the table and ran into Jack's open arms. Behind him he heard the children shout 'Daddy!' But that was all back round noise.

"Hey Hic, miss me?" Jack whispered into the shorter one's ear. Hiccup stepped back the look at him.

"Of course I missed you. Jack I almost thought I would never see you again." At that Hiccup finally let tears show. Jack wrapped his arms around his husband's waist and gave him a passionate kiss.

"I'm so happy that daddy is home that I didn't find that disgusting." Aster said gleefully. The two men laughed as Emma was saying how it was ever disgusting but romantic.

"People kissing is almost always disgusting Emma." Hiccup laughed as Alexis tried to quiet the two children.

"Oh whatever." Alexis said, "Dad I'm glad your home."

"Me two Alexis. And I love your hair. Matches well with your eyes." Jack replied kissing the top of her head.

"Daddy Daddy! I want a hug!" Emma said with her little arms outstretched.

"Hey squirt." Jack replied swinging her into his arms. As the children chattered Hiccup planted another kiss on his husband's lips.

"I really was worried I would never see you again."

"Hiccup, I may not be the best and keeping promises, but here is one that I will never break. No matter what, I will always come home to you."
