I never much cared for romance.

Mal could tell you, I've always been pretty practical.

Sex, sure.

Love, well, maybe a few times, but nothin serious.

And never the falling over my own feet kind. Just not my style.

Never much cared for fallin, see. Too much with the lack of control and all.

I think you understood that.

You could fly a ship with the best of 'em, but tried not to climb a ladder if you could help it.

Only gorram pilot I ever met who was afraid of heights. Never could figure on that one myself, but it seems we were both afraid of fallin, in very different ways.

So we fought our fear with what we knew.

You flew. Flyin gave you some control.

I fought. Fightin was all I ever knew, and it was a comfort.

But gravity has a way of catching up to everyone. Even flyers and fighters.

Eventually, we both fell. Hard.

Too bad we never figured out that the old cliché's all too true.

Fallin ain't so bad. It's when the fallin ends that the hurtin starts.

It ain't the fall that kills you, but the sudden stop.

Good bye, baby.
