They are sixteen

Ten months. Max left with her mother out of the blue no one really knew why, well billy and Lucas knew why. After she left eleven kinda went into a funk, her and max had grown very close so for her to just up and leave out of nowhere was it broke her a bit.

Mike was mowing his lawn when he felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around to see the redhead that's been absent from their lives for the past ten months. "Max" he says in shock. He quickly turned off the lawn mower and hugged her. "I've missed you, Eli's missed you" he pulled away from the hug "we have to call her" mike bubbled running towards the garage.

"she'll be so excited to see you" he began rambling. "mike" max said trying to get his attention but he kept rambling. "You have no idea how much she missed you" he started dialing the phone. "Mike" she tried again but nothing he jelly rambling and put the phone to his ear. "She'll be so happy I-"

"Mike I had a baby!" She shouted and that's when he heard her. "Hello" he heard El's voice on the other end but he quickly hung up. "What?" he hesitated. "I had a baby" she slowly repeats herself looking in his eyes before looking away. "I-um-I-What?" mike stuttered. "do you remember that night, at our first high school this year?" max asked sitting down on one of the lawn chairs in the garage. "wait so you're saying-im-im-"mike sputtered. "yeah" max finished his sentence

mike took a deep breath and joined her on the other lawn chair. "why didn't you tell me?" mike asked puzzled. "I don't know I panicked and you-you were with el and lets face it, we didn't exactly like each other so I didn't know what to do and when I told my mom she thought it was best if I left for a bit" max explains a bit teary eyed. "so why are you telling me now?"

"I just thought-um-I don't want my daughter to grow up without a father." max answered with some of her tears rolling down her face. "daughter?" mike marveled. "yeah, Claudia Alexis Mayfield" max smiled. "listen, I know this is a shock and I know I probably just ruined your life but um, if you do want to meet our daughter im home so..." she slowly got up from the chair. "stop by if you want." she murmured before walking away giving mike a lot to think about.

It all started with the party. They all really wanted eleven you go but she wasn't really up for it so mike offered to stay behind but she insisted that mike should go and have fun. Will's mom didn't think it was a good idea so will stayed behind. Lucas and max were going through a rough patch with their relationship if they were even in a relationship they never really talked about it. When they arrived Dustin found Steve and hung out with him for a bit while Lucas, Mike, and max went to the kitchen to get some drinks. Eventually lucas left due to him and max getting into one of their little arguments.

"so what's been going with you and lucas?" mike asked taking another sip of the beer in his hand. "since when do you care?" max muttered. "I don't, just making conversation" mike shrugged his shoulders. "yeah since when have you wanted to have a conversation with me" max scoffed. "look I know we didn't get off on the right foot but for the sake of you being best friends with EL and the group we're gonna have to learn how to get along." mike addressed. Max thought for a seconds before shrugging her shoulders in defeat. "fine" she said simply. "in that case, want another drink?" mike asked. "sure why not"

Max was pulled out of her thoughts when she heard a cry next to her. She looked at the time then back at he daughter laying in her purple basinet before picking her up. "yeah I know baby girl I know" she rocked the wailing infant. "need any help with that?" Max looked up to see mike at her bedroom door. "your mom let me in" mike disclosed. Mike walked closer to the crying child and sat next to max on her bed. "can I?" mike asked. Max nodded before handing her baby girl over. "shh it okay its okay daddy's here" mike rocked the child. "daddy" max smiled looking at her daughter then at mike rocking her.

They just stared at their daughter who fell asleep in mikes arms for a bit before mike spoke up. "I do care about you, you know?" mike whispered. max turned her head in confusion. "that night, I know it was a mistake but that doesn't mean I don't care about you max"

"did you ever tell El?" max asked. "I did when about a month after you left, she thought that that's why you left, we all did. She was really upset but I guess the fact that we were drunk kinda helped but it wasn't an excuse and then overtime she forgave me and we got back together but she's missed you like crazy" mike explained. "I wanna do this." mike looking back at his daughter. "I was hoping you would" max smiled. "when's was she born?" mike asked. "two weeks ago tomorrow" max responded. "when are you going back to school?"

"two days I don't know how to tell everyone else I don't think I'm ready, in fact when I went to tell you I had a speech prepared but I kinda winged it I guess." max chuckled. "well how about for right now we keep it quiet until you feel like we're ready to tell people." mike smiled. "okay" max whispered.

"you know everyone's gonna find out how much of a slut you are right?" Billy jabbed keeping his eyes on the road as he pulled into the school parking lot. "just try to go your first day without making anymore bastard babies." max opened her door and got out as did Billy. "you know what?" she stomped over to him. "say what you want about me but leave my daughter out of this or so help me god next time that baseball bat won't miss" she hissed before walking into the school. She wore a loose sweatshirt and jeans to cover up the little postpartum belly she had that she's been working on loosing but in the meantime loose shirts.

She took a deep breath before entering the classroom. She looked up to see her old friends sitting there in shock and then there was mike sitting with a smile on his face. Eleven was the first one to get up from her seat and ran and gave max a hug. "I forgive you" El whispered into her ear which made max hug her harder. "I've missed you so much" she whispers again. "I know I've missed you too" when they separate the rest of the party got up and hugged her and asked questions the famous one was.

"what happened" max just made up the excuse that her mom had a job opportunity and she wanted max to o with her. The only one who knew the truth was mike and during the day he would give her little smiles telling her she was okay and everything is fine. everyone wanted to meet up at the mall after school but max told them she couldn't she already had plans which was a big lie obviously and mike said he had to go to dinner with his folks.

"so did you tell your parents yet?" max asked getting a bottle ready. "yeah they weren't thrilled" mike responded rocking Claudia at the kitchen table waiting for max to get her bottle ready. "she's got your hair" mike laughed looking at the few strands of red hair on the child's head." yeah i know we'll have to wait for her eyes to develop but you never know she could have your eyes" max smiled before handing mike the bottle. "okay you got this?" max asked. "how hard can it be" mike chuckled "okay suit yourself" max replied before taking out her homework.

A month and a half have passed and in that month and a half mikes parents have met Claudia, Max has let mike take her a couple of nights by himself. Steve found out about Claudia only because he say max and Claudia at the store and put two and two together. Three days they celebrated her turning two months together and that night mike told El about Claudia. To his surprise El was understanding. They finally decided it was best to tell the rest of the group, they've grown very suspicious of max and mikes behavior. The secret meetings and whispering they started to suspect that Mike was cheating.

"Okay why did you call us to max's house of all places why couldn't we of gone to the arcade?" Dustan whines. "yeah since when do we hang out here?" Lucas agreed. "Well um max and I have something to show you or really some one" mike said before max walking into the living room with Claudia. "why-why is max holding a baby?" Dustan stuttered while Eleven gasped in aww at the child. "I left cause I was pregnant" Max spoke up before passing her daughter to mike then the three boys put it together. "you two had a-you two HAD A BABY!" Dustan exclaimed. "we did" mike answered. "why didn't you tell us" will asked. "I'm telling you know"

"and you're okay with this? how are you so calm?" Lucas asked El. "i knew about the baby" El spoke up before going and taking the child from mike and sitting on the couch bouncing Claudia on her knee playing with the child. Mike looked down at his girlfriend playing with his daughter made him smile.
