"Ted Evelyn Mosby"
"Kids, you know how there is always a moment where everything is calm and peaceful and you just know it won't last? Well such a moment happened to me. For once I was actually alone in my apartment. Your Uncle Marshall and Auntie Lilly were at their house, Auntie Robin was out on a date, and who knew where your Uncle Barney was. I was taking advantage of the silence to work on my class plans for my lectures the next day, and was half way through my work when Barney dramatically burst through the door".
"Ted! Ted! Ted! Ted-"
"What?" Ted said irritably, he should have known the peaceful silence wouldn't last long.
"I was in my apartment reading my playbook when I suddenly realised that I don't know your middle name", Barney said excitedly.
"You came all the way here just to find out my middle name?" Ted asked incredulously.
"My apartment isn't that far".
"Yes it is, its-"
"Don't try to change the subject, tell me your middle name".
"No way".
"Please, please".
"No".
"Come on, I came all the way over here", Barney pleaded.
"I thought your apartment wasn't that far".
"Please", Barney said ignoring him.
"But it's embarrassing".
Barney laughed, "That's what I'm counting on".
"No".
"I won't stop asking until you tell me".
Ted sighed, having had similar arguments with his sister he knew he wasn't going to get out of telling Barney, so he gave in. "Fine, I'll tell you. Just please don't tell anyone".
"Okay".
"Say it".
"Say what?" Barney asked trying to sound innocent but failed.
"I won't tell anyone".
"I won't tell anyone", Barney said trying to fight a smirk.
Ted sighed again, knowing Barney would tell everyone but wanting to get back to his work, "Evelyn".
Barney blinked in surprise, "What, I didn't catch that?" Barney said grinning.
"Evelyn", Ted said irritably.
"Huh?"
"Evelyn".
Barney burst into hysterical laughter, "Your middle name is Evelyn?" Barney said between laughs.
Ted crossed his arms and glared at Barney, this didn't stop Barney laughing, it just made him laugh more. To Ted's dismay Marshall, Lilly and Robin chose that moment to come into the apartment. Ted groaned.
"Why is Barney laughing?" Lilly asked Ted.
Barney tried to answer for Ted, wanting to tell them the story, but he was laughing too much and couldn't. So Ted reluctantly told them, as he knew that Barney would tell them at some point. As Ted expected, Marshall, Lilly and Robin were reduced to the same state as Barney.
"It's not that funny", Ted said.
"Oh, Teddy boy. This is the funniest thing I have heard all week", Marshall managed to say, and the others nodded their agreement.
"Sorry Ted, I have to agree", Robin said trying and failing to sound sympathetic, "I'm not actually sorry", Robin whispered to the others.
It took some time for them to calm down, but when they did Barney grinned at Ted, "Ted Evelyn Mosby. This is going in my blog".
