Chapter 1
Blaine stood on the stage in his cap and gown glancing out over the crowd. His eyes landed on the Berry family. His family. Most kids probably would have been embarrassed if it was their family that was jumping around, screaming and whistling. But to him it was the greatest thing in the world.
He smiled out at them as he accepted his diploma. He smiled wider as LeRoy snapped a series of photos. Hiram, next to him, was blowing his nose into a hanky, his eyes wet with unshed tears.
Blaine stepped off the stage only to be ambushed by Rachel. "Hey Rach. I didn't know you were coming. When did you get here?" Blaine asked, still hugging Rachel.
"You didn't really think I'd miss my baby brother's graduation did you?"
"I missed you Rach."
"I missed you too B. Now come on. Dad wants to get some more pictures while the light is good."
As Blaine walked through the crowd he couldn't help but to look for his real parents. He was unsurprised to find that they weren't there. What he was surprised by is how little he cared. It had been a year since he last saw his parents.
It was at a grocery store. He was picking up some things up for Hiram. As soon as they saw him walking in their direction, they turned and walked the other way.
Blaine reached Hiram and LeRoy who immediately wrapped their arms around him. "We are so proud of you," Hiram whispered in his ear.
Blaine had never felt happier in his life. This was his family, as unconventional as it was.
Hiram and LeRoy were the ones that held him when he cried, who took care of him when he was sick. They supported him, coming to all of his Glee performances, parent teacher nights, and to all of his soccer games when he decided to join the team senior year.
And as annoying as Rachel could be, she was also a great sister. She was never too busy for him. She always had time to talk, give advice. In many cases she was his sounding board. She was always his biggest fan. Instead of taking every opportunity to tell him how much he sucked, like Cooper did. She would tell him what he was doing well and how to improve something that he wasn't so good at.
Blaine was brought out of his thoughts by LeRoy's voice, "We love you so much."
Blaine couldn't stop the tears from falling even if he wanted to. "I love you to."
Blaine jumped in surprise when he felt someone tap him on the back. He turned around to see Kurt standing there with a wide grin on his face. Blaine threw himself at Kurt, wrapping his arms tightly around him.
"Kurt! What are you doing here? I thought you had a paper you needed to work on this weekend."
"I wanted to surprise you."
"I'm so glad you're here. I love you so much," Blaine nuzzled his head further into Kurt's shoulder.
"I love you to," Kurt whispered in his ear.
Blaine released his hold on Kurt moving to stand beside him, grabbing his hand.
Blaine looked around him, knowing that he had made the right decision that day over a year ago. This was his real family.
