The Fall of 's

The battle of St. Mungo's was one of the most horrific of the war; we received warning that the hospital was under attack in the early hours of the morning.

The warnings come through five minutes into the battle, by that point it was already too late for us to save the hospital. The following recount is taken from a memory retrieved from one Neville Longbottom, Lord of the house of Longbottom and Captain of the magical strike force of Hogwarts; who offered the memory to Harry Potter in hopes something could be learnt from it.

He was successful, we learnt a lot about the Death-eater tactics from that one meeting.

Neville had come to the hospital to transport his parents into hiding to keep them safe; upon arriving he appeared in the middle of the Death-eaters slaughtering everyone on every floor of the hospital.

I won't relate word for word exactly what happened during the attack as some of the details even to this day make me ill to the stomach due to the atrocities afflicted by the Death-eaters.

Neville discovering his parents were among the first to be killed by the enemy; sent a signal through his strike force pendant summoning the rest of the strike force to him before turning on the enemy with all the destructive force within him.

He managed to take out three quarters of the enemy force before we even arrived; finally falling to a shot in back by none other than Draco Malfoy, the Malfoy heir had been separated from the enemy force and up come up behind Neville strike him in the back with a cutting curse.

We arrived just in time to see the entire Death-eater force apparate away; the entire hospital had been decimated.

The final casualty count for the Battle of 's was seven hundred and ninety three dead.

Losing Neville like that affected most of us; especially so early on in the conflict. We however took solace in the fact he went out like a hero, if given the choice we would have all chosen to go onto our next great adventure with our heads held high in defence of the light.

When the conflict ended and we were rebuilding, the new hospital that we constructed in the countryside; you can still see the statue of Neville standing there welcoming the rising sun.

Another true hero of the light fell; we all stand to learn a lot from Lord Longbottom, he always showed true loyalty and compassion to any and all.

There isn't too many who know this, but Neville was one of the five wizards who aided in the defence and evacuation of British Royal family; Neville and the team he lead held the palace against a force of approximately one hundred dark wizards allowing the royal family to escape to America safe and unharmed.
