Korra had wanted the conversation to end completely. She had no time for romantic troubles and felt her eyelids drooping. Besides, he had Asami. The green-eyed goddess who actually charmed the handsome firebender with so many dark memories into her hands. But something had made her actually want him to stay. By her side. She was scared about tomorrow. She's already been through so much already and had been emotionally damaged. And maybe, there was that little voice inside her head that told her that she still liked him.
They both stayed in silence for a while, only warmed by Naga's thick fur. Both of them had wanted the other to stay there. Even Mako had forgotten about Asami.
"Mako," She whispered, pulling the strands of dark brown hair behind her ear. She hesitated even speaking her next words. "Don't you feel like this should end?"
She crossed her arms, looking up to the ceiling and not to the young man besides her. Korra let her thoughts wander off to more important worries, but he seemed to have a gravitational pull on her that she couldn't quite explain. They sat there for a long time before he said his answer.
"Yes," He whispered quietly. "I feel like there should be some peace in the world for once,"
"I guess we all want that," She bit her before feeling Mako's fingers find her own. She shivered at the warm touch, but didn't let go.
"Most of all," Their eyes locked together, and Korra could feel the heat rushing to her cheeks. "I just want you to be safe, Korra,"
Slowly, very slowly, he started to lean towards her. He gave her enough time for her to pull away, to forget this awkward moment ever happened.
And before she could do anything, he kissed her. The sensation feeling so sweet, his lips feeling warm.
They pulled apart after a couple of seconds, both of the two teens blushing and obviously so, so embarrassed.
"I hope we can keep this moment to ourselves," The corners of her lips tugged into a small smile.
"Yeah," He replied before leaving. "Good night,"
"Night,"
The last thing she saw before she fell into deep slumber was the sight of a deep red scarf by her feet.
A/N: Agh! I don't have much experience with romance (Considering the fact I've never fallen in love -_-) but I hope you enjoyed it!
