Crystal Dragon
Charlie Weasley POV
Charlie Weasley ran to his room and slammed the door. Leaning against the door, he struggled to sort through his thoughts. 'Listen' he told himself 'Auror Moody just visited. Uncles Gideon and Fabian were killed. They are heroes.' Charlie was in shock. His uncles, the best uncles anyone could have, were dead. He loved how they could make any situation funny. Charlie tried to recall his last memory of Gideon and Fabian.
Two weeks earlier
"Happy Birthday, Charlie!" yelled Uncles Gideon and Fabian the moment they stepped through the door. With a cry of delight, Charlie leapt up and flung himself at his uncles. Fabian caught him and pulled him into a hug before handing him to Gideon.
An hour later, everyone was just finishing the delicious cake that Molly made. "Presents?" Charlie asked eagerly. Arthur smiled at his son and chuckled. "Yes," he said. "Time for presents." Gideon and Fabian immediately handed Charlie their presents. Both were box shaped, but one was much larger than the other. Charlie grabbed the big one first and carefully tore off the wrapping paper. "A book?" he asked. "Not just any book," Gideon said with amusement in his voice. "A Quidditch book." Charlie brightened and flipped the book open, watching the players ride their broomsticks around the page. He set the book aside and grabbed the small package. "Careful," Fabian warned. "It's fragile." Charlie pulled the paper off the box as gently as he could. He undid the tabs and opened it. Inside was a crystal figure. "What is it?" Charlie asked. "It's a dragon. A Common Welsh Green to be exact." Charlie's eyes widened as he examined the crystal dragon. The dragon moved around in his hands, opening its mouth as if to spit flames. "Its beautiful." He whispered. Charlie jumped to his feet and said, "Come with me to my room so you can help me put it on the high shelf." He hurried to the stairs and waited for Gideon and Fabian to follow him. They conjured a shelf and put it a foot below the ceiling. Every now and then, the dragon would move, catching the light and sending reflections dancing around the room.
Charlie glanced up at the shelf. The dragon was still there. He moved the chair under the shelf and grabbed the crystal dragon. He sat back on his bed and cradled the dragon in his hands. The delicate figure shifted in his hands, stomping with its feet. Tears began to pour down his cheeks as he remembered every memory he had of his uncles. Charlie's head snapped up as a decision came into his head. Gideon and Fabian had always encouraged his love of dragons. Charlie vowed to himself that he would follow his dreams and become a dragon handler. He vowed not for himself, but for his uncles. He knew they would always support him, through everything.
