Afterthoughts

Unfortunately, I am not in that equation. Excuse me while I go sob over in a corner.
A/N: Finally, I actually have the chance to post something! This is a little one-shot I cooked up- I got Marauder inspiration after reading OOTP, Snape's Worst Memory. I intended it to be longer, but I think it turned out pretty well anyway. This takes place at the end of their seventh year. Feedback is fantastic, hint, hint : )
It was a lazy spring afternoon. The sun was shining, bearing with it the first real heat of summer, and the grounds of Hogwarts school had never looked more appealing to its students, which the majority of were to be found dipping their toes in the lake or lounging under the shade of a nearby beech tree.
"I'm bored." Sirius Black pronounced, uprooting grass and tossing it at the sandy-haired boy beside him.
"Will you stop?" an irritated Remus Lupin said, brushing the grass off the book placed on his lap. "I'm trying to read."
James Potter laughed, ruffling his already tousled black hair. "Oh, relax. And do away with that book, we only just finished exams."
"You might of, but I had inconveniently sprouted fur and a knack for eating people." Remus said darkly.
"Bad luck, mate," Sirius said.
"Yeah," Peter quickly agreed.
"That's one less full moon we'd of had together." James said thoughtfully.
Sirius shook his head. "I can't believe it- what is it? Two weeks left now?"
Remus closed his book, giving up. "Ten days."
"That's depressing," Sirius said. "What are you going to do after school?"
"I don't know." Remus sighed, hopelessly.
"That law won't pass." James said firmly.
"Yeah," Sirius added. "It can't."
"Never mind about that," Remus said quickly. "I don't want to think about it. What about you?"
"Well, I don't think Prongs's mum and dad will have me for much longer, so I think I'll fancy getting my own place." Sirius said. "Prongs?"
"I fancy my own place too," James agreed. "With Lily, if she'll have me."
Remus grinned. "Knew that one was coming,"
"Does this mean you're going to ask her to marry you?" Peter asked.
"No, Wormy," Sirius grinned, "it means he's going to ask her to shag him."
James punched Sirius playfully in the arm. "No... I'm going to ask her to marry me."
Sirius's face immediately went blank, while Remus grinned.
"When?" Remus asked.
James leaned back against the beech tree, and ruffled his hair again. "Haven't decided yet,"
"Really, mate?" Sirius asked, looking quite unsure of the situation.
"Yep." James said certainly.
Sirius raised his eyebrows. "Blimey.... Didn't see that one coming."
James shrugged. "I love her." he said simply.
A grin slowly crept onto Sirius's face. "It's all right with me.... You just have to make me best man."
"Wouldn't have it otherwise," James agreed. "Moony can be a bridesmaid, besides."
Remus raised his eyebrows. "I think I'll pass,"
"Do you think Lily will say yes?" Peter asked stupidly.
"She will," Remus assured.
"'Specially in these times," Sirius added darkly.
Moments passed in silence.
"You know what I fancy?" Sirius stood suddenly, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "A swim."
"But we haven't got our trunks..." Peter pointed out.
"Come on, Pete! Improvise!" Sirius said, and he pulled his shirt and pants off, leaving just his checkered boxers.
"I dunno about this, Padfoot." Remus said uncertainly, glancing faintly in the direction of some nearby fourth year girls who were gawking at Sirius.
Sirius rolled his eyes. "Prongs?"
"I'm with you," James said recklessly, and he too stripped down to his boxers. "Come on Moony, It's now or never!"
"Fine. But I'm keeping my clothes on."
