Reasons behind Severus Snape.

Hermione tucked her wand and time-turner away and looked up and down the corridor she was in. It was late, and through the windows she could see bright stars lighting up the ground. Getting her bearings Hermione realised she was somewhere near Dumbledore's office. Not entirely sure with what she was doing, she headed for Gryffindor Tower.

"It's a little late for midnight wanderings, don't you think? Although I admit they help to clear ones head a little, other staff members might frown upon it." Hermione turned around and saw it was the headmaster. Although he looked a fair bit younger than the headmaster she remembered.

"Sorry Sir, I..." She trailed off, not having thought of the whole sentence before she spoke.

"I'm sorry, I don't believe we've met."

"Uh, I'm Hermione Granger..." She muttered. They should have thought this through more before going forward with the plan.

He nodded slowly.

"And where are you from?" Hermione blinked, he'd been quick to work that one out.

"1984 sir." There was no point lying to him as he would see straight through her. "Sir...what year is it?"

"1974, the Gryffindor password is bowtruckle. You might want to get off to bed before it gets too late. There should be a spare bed in the fourth year dorm. Come and see me tomorrow and we'll have a proper chat." She blinked and then looked down, of course, she was in her uniform. Nodding quickly, Hermione scurried off to Gryffindor tower.

Upon reaching the portrait hole, she gave the password and ignored the questions fired at her. Then debated whether to go to the dorm or to stay in the Common room and wake up early. Deciding a bed would be much comfier than a sofa, Hermione headed upstairs and poked her head around the door to the four year girls dorm. It was dark and warm and the only sounds were gently snores and light breathing. Squinting through the darkness she saw and unmade bed at the far end of the room. She pulled off her shoes then lay on the bed and pulled a blanket over her from the pile at the bottom of it.

Well. The plan had worked, this much at least. After Severus Snape had taken 50 points from Gryffindor because of an accident in their potions lesson, Ron Weasley, one of Hermione's best friends had joked about going back to find out why Snape was so cold. The joke had then turned into something serious between the three friends, including Harry Potter. It now involved seeing if they could change it. It was good to feel the thrill of plotting something secret again. Harry had used his invisibility cloak to steal Professor McGonagall's timeturner and Hermione had learnt a powerful spell to enhance the timeturners power. The result had meant she was thrown back in time to when their professor was at school and would be catapulted back into the future in a month's time. At first Harry had wanted to go back because it would mean seeing his parents and Sirius. But Hermione had argued that it would look suspicious as he and his dad looked so alike and that he might get distracted from what they had planned. Plus, she knew more.

Hermione closed her eyes and willed herself to sleep, her mission would start the next day and she couldn't do anything now. All that was left was to sleep and wait for tomorrow.
