He crept across the floorboards like a shadow, glancing anxiously back at the doorway. Only Aragorn was there, beaming maniacally, before the ranger skulked away to keep watch. He grimaced, turned around and gingerly lifting the lid of the clothing chest.
It uncooperatively creaked.
Legolas froze. His gaze frantically darted back to the entrance.
:: There was no one there. So far so good.
Arwen was going to throttle him. Then Mîrwen would throttle Estel for causing her sister to throttle her husband. Jonath, Aragorn's personal bodyguard would promptly behead Mîrwen for killing his King and Arwen would have him hanged for murdering her sister. This madcap dare of that infernal Dúnadan looked set to account for the four of them in one fell swoop. ::
Legolas heaved a sigh.
:: He did not know how the human managed to talk him into these things… He would be the death of him someday. At times, he could almost rue the day he first set eyes on that scoundrel. ::
Carefully sifting through the delicate materials, he pinched and at last raised the article of clothing Aragorn has specifically stated, winced, and started to lower the decorative lid…
"ELF!" a militant female voice- with magnificent lung power- bellowed, nary a second later.
He visibly jumped, prematurely releasing the lid, which crashed back into place. Spinning around, his eyes were wide, looking extraordinarily like a deer caught in lamplight, the compromising piece of undergarment dangling from his hand.
To his mortification, he blushed.
"Just what are you doing with that?!"
With a treacherous light in her fey eyes, nostrils flared and arms akimbo, Arwen the Fair was a terror to behold.
Desperately, he held out the small silken garment, as a peace offering and pleaded, "Mellon-nín, can we not be reasonable about this?"
If anything, the sight of him holding out her intimate clothing to her seemed to make the flames flare higher in her eyes. The Evenstar narrowed her gaze at him.
"Reasonable..? I'm going to THROTTLE you!!! And you... you..."
She reached behind her and pulled the distinguished King of Men by his ear from behind the wall.
Aragorn winced and sheepishly mouthed to Legolas, "Sorry... It's not natural the way she can creep up on me..."
Valar, save them all. Four corpses, it would be.
