Troy was walking home from school on February 14, aka Valentine's Day. And he sure had a crudy one.
He had just broken up with Gabriella the day before, and had no one special on Valentine's Day.
Jason had Kelsi, Chad had Taylor, Ryan even had Martha, and now Zeke had Gabriella. He had no one.
When he got home, he went up to his room. He took his plush basketball and started to throw it up in the air, mulling things over.
At one point, his ball went array and rolled under his bed. He sighed, sat up, and went down to search for it.
It took him a minute to find it. When he did, he pulled it out. He was about to dust it off when he saw what was behind the ball: a box.
Curious, he pulled it out. On the top it said "Our old valentines". Troy plopped down onto his bed and opened the box.
Inside were tons of valentines. Instantly, Troy remembered. It was the valentines that Sharpay had given him every year since they were three.
Troy smiled without even knowing it as he read each and every one at least five times each. He missed how much fun they had on Valentine's Day together. But not for two years did they have fun. Since Gabriella came to East High and stole everything from Sharpay, she didn't want to be with Troy on this day of love. Because he loved her.
Troy then remembered about one valentine. He slowly pulled out something he received that day out of his pocket.
He looked at the pink envelope that read ' Troy' in beautiful white writing. He knew exactly who it was from. He pulled the flap open and the card out. It was just a plane white card on the outside. But as he opened it, he realized that there was more than meet's the eye. He read the pink gel pen writing.
Dear Troy,
Happy Valentine's Day. I know we give each other a valentine every year, and I gave you this one, so why didn't you give me one? Did I do something, Troy? Did I annoy you? Did I bother you? Are you made at me? I haven't done anything mean in sooo long? So why wouldn't you give me one? You're my best friend, Troy! I don't understand! Why wouldn't you send me a valentine? Did your friends say something? Because I just want to know, Troy! You owe me that. You owe me an explanation. You owe me an apology. And if you can't give me any of that, I guess I'll understand. But no matter what, you owe me a valentine. Just remember Troy: you never gave me a valentine this year. And I still gave you one. Just remember that I love you.
All my love,
Sharpay
In that moment Troy realized that he never really loved Gabriella. He loved Sharpay. He groaned at his oblivious-ness. He put his newer valentine in the box, put it under his bed, and ran out of his house.
Sharpay sat in a tree house. Not just any tree house. It was the one she and Troy always hung out in ever since they were five. She didn't even care if it messed up her outfit. It just made her sad to wear it. She wore a white skirt, pink heals, and a red wildcats tank top. She also wore a light pink sweater. Her hair was in cute pigtails. She was all dressed up for a person who apparently didn't care about her.
Suddenly she heard a cough from behind her. She whirled around to see troy standing there.
Before she could say a word, Troy kissed her. At first she was startled, but then melted into his arms that were holding her with all their might.
After a few minutes of pure joy, Troy pulled away. Sharpay looked into his eyes, and he did the same with hers. Blue met brown.
"I owed you a valentine, didn't I?" Troy said. He and Sharpay laughed, and then resumed to their kiss.
