Hi everybody! This is just a cutise little one-shot I wrote 'cus I absolutely adore Harry/Ginny. It is also my first HP fanfic. Enjoy!
Harry woke with a start; he had had one of his ever-recurring nightmares again. It seemed that every night now his dreams were filled with the faces of those who had died in the war and the dead bodies of everyone who hadn't. Looking around the dark room of the burrow, he knew he wasn't going to be able to get back to sleep. Quietly, he grabbed his glasses and headed down stairs and out the front door. Unlike other times, he wasn't contemplating running away because he was putting his friends in danger. Now that Voldemort was really gone he didn't have to worry about that any more. All the same, the nightmares still terrified him every time.
Ginny heard Harry going down the stairs, she was used to it by now, being woken up every time someone walked downstairs. Her room was right on the stairway after all. But usually her family members weren't trying to be quiet. As she got up to investigate, she caught the sound of the person sneaking past her door. Whoever it was breathing heavily, as if in pain. And the footsteps were coming from upstairs, that meant it was probably one person, Harry. As the footsteps faded Ginny slipped out of her room and followed them. She watched as Harry went outside, sat down and put his head on his knees in apparent despair.
"Harry?" Ginny called out into the night. "Where are you?"
"Over here Ginny," harry replied. By now, he could identify her voice as well as he could Ron's or Hermione's. As Ginny walked over to him he thought over everything that had happened in the last six months. The war had ended, he had finally gotten Ron and Arthur's full approval for dating Ginny, and had successfully repaired much of the damage done during his seventeenth year. Umbridge had been locked away for good, (for a while he had seriously considered just letting the centaurs have her back) and he had gotten all the surviving muggleborns out of Azkaban.
As Ginny sat down next to him, the familiar tingles he got whenever she looked at him returned. The nightmare that night had been the one of the worst. It has been about Ginny this time, her dead body on the ground at his feet, as her family looked on in disgust. He should have saved her. It was all his fault.
"Hey," Ginny brought him out of his reverie again. "Do you want to talk about it?"
He didn't but he also knew it was useless to say no to her. "It was just another nightmare" he said "nothing to worry about."
"If it was 'nothing to worry about' you wouldn't be out here in the middle of the night." Ginny spoke frankly, but not without kindness.
"Alright, fine! It was horrible! You were dead at my feet and your family hated me for it! Happy?" Harry was panting now, he knew he shouldn't have shouted at her, but it was too late now.
"You know they would never do that, right?" Ginny was obviously scared by his sudden outburst and it broke his heart.
"My head does, but the rest of me won't believe it." Harry admitting to that broke Ginny's heart. So, she did the only thing she could think of, she wrapped her arms around him and buried her face in his shoulder. Soon she felt Harry's hand stroking her hair and she knew he had calmed down.
"I'm right here, and I'm not going anywhere, ever." Ginny was whispering now, so Harry had to strain to hear her, but that didn't make it any less sweet.
"Ginny, what did I do to deserve you?" he asked in awe. Her response was short and sweet.
"You made me ask the same question."
Sooooo, what did ya think? I'm thinking of making a whole collection of "you made me ask the same question" fics. Leave a review to let me know if you like the idea or no, just be nice. Kassie
