Carla was having a normal night. She was in her house, lying on her soft bed in the bedroom down the hall from the children's room. She was having trouble sleeping from a loud storm outside.

Grisha wasn't home. He was gone for work, and Eren was also gone for a night at Armin's, so it was just Mikasa and Carla.

Carla rolled over, sighing in frustration. She just wanted some sleep…

That's when she awoke from a scream from the other room. Carla snapped up, sliding off the bed, and running to Mikasa's room in worry.

There was Mikasa, sitting up on her bed with her hands tangled in her hair, and tears streaming down her horror filled eyes.

Carla was almost instantly by her side.

Mikasa was trembling. She turned to Carla.

"…A-auntie Carla…" Mikasa said shakily.

"Are you okay, Sweetie?" Carla asked. Mikasa hesitated before answering.

"I…it's just…my…my Mom and Dad…" Mikasa broke down in tears.

Carla climbed up onto Mikasa's bed and wrapped her arms around the young girl.

"Shhh…shhh…I'm here…" Carla whispered. Mikasa curled into her, eyes clenched, and let out a soft whimper.

Carla began stroking Mikasa's hair, tucking her under her chin.

"It's okay…it's okay…you're safe here…" Carla said quietly. A loud noise came from the thunder outside. Carla felt Mikasa tense.

Carla began softly rocking the young girl, continuing to whisper comforting words in her ear. Another roll of thunder came.

"…Please…d…don't leave me…" Mikasa said, as her tears slowed. Carla felt her heart break.

"I won't. I promise…" Carla said, pulling the blanket over the two as she lay down with Mikasa in her arms.

And as Mikasa slowly began drowsing off, Carla felt her grip tighten on the traumatized girl.

Carla kissed Mikasa's forehead gently.

She slowly closed her eyes, beginning to drowse off herself.

"You're safe with me, Mikasa…Always."
