Disclaimer: Look, my self-esteem is low enough as it is without having to
admit to not owning anything...
Note: This takes place directly after the break in the Tower when Aes Sedai
still more-or-less loyal to Suian fled for their lives. The Brown Sister
writing this is on a boat leaving the city. And if this ever seems to get
off topic, look, this is a BROWN Sister here! They never stay on topic! ^_^
The Tower looks so different now,
Yet it hasn't changed at all.
Regally it stands above the tallest
Buildings, proud as ever.
Seeming to stand as guardian
Against the mountain that thrusts
It's way out of the bleak and
Barren plains that bore it,
Alone but sad, it pierces the sky
And screams defiance to the world.
But ah, the Tower, how my home
So quickly has fallen from the inside,
Desperate to keep its face hidden,
Convincing the people
That nothing has changed.
What we fought for, so long, so long,
Has become the pathway to our
End, an end to the Tower
We thought immortal, an
End we thought could never come.
I suppose the Tower will never die,
Its walls forever keeping
The secrets we fought so hard to find.
It is only us who die - though we would
Uphold the myth -
Desolate, cut off from what we
Thought, we knew, would save us.
Could he, will he, be the one?
The one who'll destroy us,
Claim us, bind us?
Is he worth this rift in what was
Never meant to break?
