She smiles shyly as he knocks on the door of their shared apartment. He always insists on this. "A date is the same even if we live together," he had proclaimed the first time he took her out after they had moved in together, "and I'll never stop wooing you, so don't expect anything different now." Then, he smiles and melts her heart.

"Hi." She bit her lip as she smiles and he produces a bundle of lilies from behind his back.

He always got her something before a date; it was a sort of unspoken rule for him. He would always be crazy about her, so he was always going to show it. "I got you flowers, milady."

She blushes, "You shouldn't have." But she accepts them, smiling wider.

"You're lovely when you blush."

She plants a kiss on his cheek, whispers, "Thank you, Mr. Handsome," and proceeds to blush further.

Enticing, her perfume greets him. "Did I mention how beautiful you are tonight?" he asks as he grasps her hand, gently leading her into the dazzling night.

Her leg grazes his underneath the silken tablecloth. He smiles at her, and she beams. The candles on the sill flicker in the night air, creating a hazy halo around the couple. He takes her hand, and looks out to the night sky. Her gaze follows his. The silence is sweet.

"I… you don't see many stars out in the city," he starts.

"I see you," she says with a smile.

He laughs warmly. "You stole my line."

"Is that okay?"

"Always," he says, pressing his lips against her palm, "but is it okay if I use it?"

"Always," she replies.

"Me and you – us – it must have been providence." He clears his throat. "I've looked through time and space, and I've seen my future without you." He paused, his warm eyes twinkling in the dark. "It sucks."

She laughs and leans toward him, her head falling naturally into the crevice of his shoulder.

"I've been fortunate. People look for stars all the time, but there's just so many, they can never find their star. Meanwhile, I've always had mine right in front of me." His brings his hand up to her face and her head lifts off of his shoulder, mesmerized. "I can see my star," he says quietly, as he tucks a strand of her hair behind her ear, "and I can't find it anywhere else."

She melts further, and her heart beats quicker. She is sure of only one thing: she loves this boy with all of her heart and soul.

"Keely," he says nervously, sliding off of his seat, "please be my star forever, my guiding light, so I'll never get lost." He falls to his knees, holding her hand in one hand, fumbling within his pockets with the other. As he finally locates the velvet box he's been carrying with him for days, he asks her: "Will you marry me?"

That night, on the rooftop of just an ordinary building, an ordinary boy hears a yes from an ordinary girl, and they become extraordinary.
