Disclaimer: If I owned, the series would be like this and you all would love it.

Author's Note: Please, please, someone write more of this pairing! There's not enough! -begs.- I adore this pairing...and it needs to exist! Again! And I'm sorry that this wasn't amazing. I just NEEDED to write it. Enjoy!

Doubts

Their doubles wasn't always perfect, and neither were they. But they were always syncronized with each other - well, at least after their first match as doubles partners. Their first time wasn't great, to say the least. They were clumsy, and Akazawa Yoshirou played most of the game, leaving Kaneda Ichirou in the back sidelines, alone. The second year knew that his buchou was costing them the game, and he had to do something about it.

"Bakazawa, you bastard! They're playing doubles! This is not a singles match!"

Kaneda, despite never having played with his buchou, made Akazawa realize that they needed to play doubles to win - and win, they did. Though, the fact that Kikumaru Eiji ran out of stamina helped, if only a little.

That match, their first doubles match together - as well as Akazawa's first doubles match, damn Mizuki - wasn't the only time that St. Rudolph's captain had almost let the second year down. There were numerous, countless times that Kaneda's mind was filled with doubts about his buchou. Their doubles match. Practice. Listening to Mizuki about his damned script. Even calling him. Akazawa had the tendency to let his kouhai down when they were supposed to spend moments together. This was one of those times.

"...Buchou," the second year doubles player sighed and plopped down on his couch, lifting a book into his arms as he sat. It had been hours since the older teen had promised he'd call him...and the call still hadn't come. They might not have exactly been physically close, but mentally, they were together. Doubles partners following the same dream. National tennis tournaments. Kaneda would follow his captain everywhere.

They had agreed on doubles practice, alone at the beach. No direction from Mizuki, no other teammates. But also, no word from Akazawa. And it was getting late.

Heading off to bed seemed like the best thing to do, until--.

"Ah?" he blinked, turning his head towards the pounding door. Who would be insane enough to be out this late? "Coming!" he yelled with a small smile, but froze at the sight of who appeared at his door. "B-Buchou..."

Akazawa grinned. "Hey, Kaneda. Sorry I'm late," he said, eyeing his kouhai. "You, uh, gonna let me in?"

"A-Ah, of c-course!" he stuttered and stepped aside, allowing the taller boy to enter, closing the door soon after. "S-Sorry," he said with a bow, which, in turn, he got a soft pat on the head.

"It's fine."

Akazawa walked right past his stuttering kouhai and sat on the couch, ushering him to follow. Kaneda complied, kindly, sitting right next to him, only about an inch or two away. Maybe, for once, it was okay to go without practice.

"Hey, Kaneda?" Akazawa started, looking towards his doubles partner. Though the younger boy refused to look back, he still gave an answer.

"Y-Yes, Buchou?"

The third year grinned and turned Kaneda to face him, pressing his own lips to the boy's softly. "I don't think we even need to go to the beach for practice, Kaneda. I think we're close enough already." He gave a smirk as the second year flushed slightly and turned away.

"A-Aa..."

It was always when he doubted his friend the most, that his friend would turn it around and never disappoint him in the first place.

Reviews are nice. As well as other people writing this pairing. :D Please?
