The only thing he could do was stay in that room with her.

Korra looked so frail and delicate that Mako was even afraid to brush some strands of her dark hair behind her ear. She was scratched up on her cheek, and he didn't see the young, powerful girl he met at the arena. He saw a girl who had looked defeated, feeble even. Thank goodness they had found her just in time. Amon could have captured her fact, she was the only person in Republic City to have a polar bear dog.

The room had been large, and had a meager amount of furniture. He looked out the window, seeing the ocean that separated Air Temple Island from Republic City. The body of water resembled Korra's eyes so much. He wanted to see her eyes, those beautiful, icy blue eyes. They seem to sparkle, for some reason. When he looked back down on the bed, he touched her cheek, not worrying if she would break apart into a million pieces. He wished she would just wake up. Mako felt something stirring in his stomach. An emotion he could only describe as longing. Something he hadn't felt for so long. The firebender bowed his head. It wasn't his fault that she was in a coma. It was by the hands of a bloodbender. Mako had felt protective of Bolin ever since their parents had died. But somehow, in this time of darkness, he felt the same with Korra.

She was so unsafe.

He got up from the wooden stool and had been about to leave the room, until he heard her whisper his name.

"Mako,"

A/N: In the episode, I though they made a time-jump from Mako's visit to Korra to when you see Korra fully awake. Reason why I made this.
