A Million Raindrops
Ding-dong. James heard his doorbell ring. He sprinted downstairs, curious to see who it was this time. As James swung open the door, he saw Carlos standing there, but he wasn't surprised. Carlos' lips turned up in a small smile. That's all it took for James to know why Carlos was here. They exchanged glances, having a silent conversation that would be kept to themselves. James smiled back.
He help his arms open, giving a small hand signal, telling Carlos to come here. Automatically Carlos rushed forward and squeezed James tight, the tears he had been holding back spilling all over James' shoulder. James' heart sank as he heard the sobs Carlos emitted. He hated seeing Carlos like this. James wrapped his arms around Carlos, wanting him to feel safe. He laid his head on top of Carlos' and murmured quietly.
"Shhh, don't cry. Everything will be alright, Carlitos. Shhhh," James cooed, stroking Carlos' hair. The crying ceased and Carlos pulled back a little. His face was red and had streaks from the tears, eyes puffy and lip trembling.
"I-I tried to be good to her. But..she said I wasn't trying hard enough. I could tell Sam was starting to see me checking out guys...and even other girls. I, I I even told her I didn't mean it like that...she didn't listen. She said things wouldn't work out like this. And that's not even the worst part...Oh God...I swear I ddin't want to, but I got so mad. I started yelling at her. Sammy left crying. And then I unfollowed her...thank goodness that was the worst thing I could do. If I didn't know any better...wh-who knows what I could've done and-" Carlos was rambling on about nothing now. James pulled him back, close to his chest, and then reached out his other arm to grab the remote to the stereo. He pushed play and held Carlos tight as the music began.
A million raindrops,
upon your face.
Tears disappear,
without a trace.
A million raindrops,
follow you home.
They travel with you,
so you're not alone.
No need to call for cover,
Just wrap up your arms,
and let them kiss your face.
James rocked Carlos back and forth slightly, glad that Carlos had stopped sobbing. But he was still allowing silent tears fall freely onto James. James didn't care. Carlos could cry as much as he felt like he needed to. James pushed pause, deciding that standing up wasn't really that comforting. So without warning, James swept Carlos off of his feet, carrying him bridal style over to his plush couch. Carlos didn't protest. He clung tight to James' chest and started sniffling. As James sat him down on the couch on his lap, Carlos let his eyes close and hiss breathing was heavy from the crying. James laid his head down next to Carlos', pressing occasional kisses to his forehead and stroking his hair soothingly. James watched Carlos' peaceful face, sensing he wasn't asleep.
"Carlos?" James whispered, careful not to disturb Carlos in his calm state.
"Hm?" Carlos made a small noise, not wanting to say much, just wanting to rest here in James' arms forever and ever.
James pressed another kiss to his forehead. "Carlos, promise me this. Whenever your heart is broken, you remember, I am there for you. I will stop anything I'm doing and come to your side. Okay?"
Carlos nodded his head. They locked eyes. More silent messages. Thank you.
And with that message, James set Carlos free.
Sadness :( I thought of this in church again (Adoration...lots of time to think...)
I hope you are alright Carlos. It's so sad that you and Sammy broke up, because you guys were adorable together!
But, Jarlos...? :3 Just putting that out there.
BTW sorry for lack of detail in this story. I'm getting sleepy.
