He clutched the grip of his Katana tightly, as the form rose before him. The air was cold, and the location seemed wrong, but at least the year was right. And as the being before him rose up, he felt its power distort the world.
However, he also came to a startling conclusion.
"It isn't Lavos!" Lucca turned to him, looking shocked and slightly afraid.
"It's still going to ruin the world though, isn't it?" Marle yelled across to them, unsure, but still worried. Crono tilted his head to one side, as though considering, while Lucca paused to think on it also. Then the world broke apart around them, a pillar of light rising from the glowing white giant, while the ground around it writhed and crumbled.
Crono looked to his companions and nodded, and as shock wave reached them, they charged.
Their battle was short and meaningless; the giant barely saw them as a threat. Any attempts to reach it were blocked by some sort of force-field, and though they found they could breach it with magic, they still couldn't close on the being itself. The odd hit of flame, frost or lighting that struck it barely impacted its massive form. And then, annoyed by their constant - if weak - blows, it swept them away with a wave of its hand, as easily as a child would pick up a pebble.
After recovering from the single blow, Crono picked himself up in time to see what looked like a large metal building near the giant, half-buried in the snow. And then a long, thin, red form came flying from an open bay in the building. The thing looked like a spear or lance of some sort, scaled up to the size of the giant. When it struck, the giant flashed all the brighter, and then vanished, a massive shockwave emanating from where it had stood. Lucca was already crouched in the snow in beside Crono, and Marle was just picking herself up near to them.
Lucca turned to the two of them. "Do either of you have any idea what just happened?"
