Disclaimer: I don't own Legend of Korra. Mike, Bryan and Nickelodeon do.
I thought this was a powerful and emotional scene in Korra episode 10, showing the bravery and sacrifice Lin Beifong did for Tenzin, Pema and the children. She truly is a great character. I was inspired to write it in her point of view. And add what I thought was going on in her mind during these events and the growth in her. Enjoy!
"There gaining on us!" I say as Amon's airships get closer to us.
There wasn't a chance we could escape them. The airships were to fast for the Sky Bison. I glanced at Pema and the Air children. The fear in their eyes consumed them as they wondered their fate. Tenzin and his children are Avatar Aang's legacy. And mother helped with Aang's legacy. She protected Tenzin and Avatar Aang all those years ago. But I to have a legacy! It's time for me to let go of my past with Tenzin, and accept that we can only be childhood friends not lovers.
The only airbenders in the world are depending on me to protect them. All I want to now is protect the people Tenzin loves and Tenzin himself!
"Whatever happens to me don't turn back!" I yelled.
I began swinging to the airship before protest would start.
"Lin! What are you doing?" Tenzin yelled back from the distance.
There's no turning back! I know what I must do. Metal shrieked as I bended it out of place. After my work was done with that airship, I jumped to the next airship. The metal bending started but the buzz of electricity hummed in my ears.

"Ahggh!" I grunted as an equalist took me to the ground.
I looked up my vision clearing. Amon. There he was, the monster who took my metal benders bending away. Rain poured down my face.
"Tell me where the Avatar is and I'll let you keep your bending. His raspy voice spoke.
"I won't tell you anything, you monster!"
"Very well."
A hint of disappointment that monster was pleasing. He can forget me selling out the Korra the Avatar. I closed my eyes. I knew the consequence of getting on the airship. I know the price I have paid to save them. It was over. My soul felt like it had been ripped at. My body fell to the cold, wet ground. Mother, I gave up my pride and joy, for my legacy, for Tenzin. I think I finally understand your dying words now.
"Lin you will be a great chef. You are strong not only with your bending but your heart too. I am proud of you. Find your legacy Lin. That's the key. My legacy was you."
Mother, I found that legacy. A tear ran down my cheek to my scar.
