(A/N: So I am from England, and im actually not far from Winchester where Wammy's is, and right now theres a massive thunderstorm and im scared, so to vent my anxiety, I imagined what could be happening at Wammy's house right now if Mello and Matt were 14 and wrote a fanfic. Short drabble, probably really crap but, enjoy and please review! (I wish I had Matt here too... :'( but i'll live!) Disclaimer: I don't own death note sadly)
Thunderstorms
It was about midnight, and the whole of Wammy's house was asleep and silent.
Except for Matt and Mello's room of course.
They stayed up, Mello staring out the window thinking, and Matt playing his DS. It was peaceful, just the way that Mello liked it every once in a while.
Suddenly, the calm was broken when heavy rain hit and a massive flash of lighting crashed to the ground, followed by a sonic boom of lightning while echoed through the walls of Wammy's house and lasted for a few seconds.
"Matt!" Mello said, trying not to sound too afraid, "Matt! Did you hear that?"
"Uhhh" Matt muttered as a reply and then nodded, too distracted by his game to care.
As time went by, more lightning flashed in the window. Mello was beginning to get nervous, but he would NOT let it show. He couldn't seem weak.
The 14 year old Mello had always been terrified of thunderstorms, and he was never sure why. They just made him want to crawl under the bed and cry.
But he'd never been so scared in his life, and he looked over at Matt anxiously. Matt quickly noticed the blondes frightened expression.
"Mels?"
There was no reply as the blonde just continued trembling in his bed and shaking.
"Mels? Are you okay?"
"Oh, um yeh" Mello answered, sounding anything but okay.
"Mels, I know when you're lying y'know, you're scared" Matt tried to convince his friend in the bed across from to admit it.
"Not I'm not."
"Mels come on, it won't matter, I get that it-"
"Okay" Mello choked on his fear as a single tear fell down his face, "I'm scared Matt, I'm terrified."
Matt didn't reply, instead, he got off of his bed and joined Mello in his. As he got under the covers with him, thunder and lightning struck once again, probably the loudest yet, and Matt grabbed Mello to feel him shaking even more. Also, more tears began to fall and Mello couldn't control his anxiety anymore.
"Mels, it's okay, I'm here."
"But-" stuttered Mello, his face flushed with embarrassment, "but you probably think I'm pathetic now, and weak-"
"No Mello, no matter what happens, you'll always be the toughest guy I know. That will never change. I will never think less of you."
"Thank you Matt" Mello whispered.
He was still scared, shaking in fear as the thunderstorm continued. But something was different; he had Mello to help him through this.
And so they lay there, listening to the rumbling thunder, together. Because as long as they had each other, everything would be okay.
