Twilight With a Twist
Chapter 1 Ali the Wolfdog
This is gonna suck. Bella and I have agreed that this is the worst possible situation to be in. Sure, Dad is a jolly chill chap, but Forks is so… stupidly WET. I may be American, but my British side says that this is gonna be a bloody hard few years. Too bad that we are stuck in the middle of mom and dad not being able to stand each other…Or I would have begged to stay at home. But no, it is this dreary place or foster care for sadistic little me. Why they thought that foster care was a good option is beyond me. And of course Bella is gonna have no time for me, since she'll be in high school now. I'm only a freshman, so of course I'll have absolutely no homework. School has really never challenged me…
"Ali, earth to Ali…Ali, there is a superhot kid staring at you right now. Like, very intensely. I wish he was my age…" Bella hisses in my ear. I glance up boredly, then shrug and look back at my folded hands. He was more Bella's style than mine.
"Sis, calm down…He looks like he's 12. I'm 15, in case you forgot." I snip back at her. She doesn't seem surprised. Of course, we'd discussed our preferences in guys enough times she knows I wouldn't like him.
"Hey Bella, hey Ali. I'm Sam. I'm your ride to your dad's house." A tall, lanky Native American guys says, giving us a cheerful smile. Bella smiles back. I remind myself of self-defense moves.
"Ali, come on. Time to meet father again." Bella says, and I snort. So true. We follow Sam to his car, and I hop in the back. Bella and Sam are talking in the front, and I tune them out, opening my book about forensics. So boring, but calming. I've read this book six times already.
"Ali, Sam says we are about a mile from home. So, it is time to put your book away and start looking out the window. Cause I know you will just ignore dad if you don't stop now." Bella orders me some time later. I shrug and put my book back in my duffel. Whatever, I'm not planning on talking anyway.
"Ali, dad still has chili!" Bella squeals and Sam laughs.
"Jake gave him a big bath yesterday. It was super fun to watch." Sam grins at me in the mirror. I give him a slight smile. So maybe he wasn't as bad as I first thought. Sam parks the car and I hop out, stretching. Bella runs up to Dad and gives him a huge hug. I just stare off into space.
"Hey Bella, Ali." Another Native American says, showing up next to me. I grimace and step away slightly.
"Ali, you wouldn't remember him, but this is Jacob." My dad says, having noticed my flinch. I nod, then shake Jacob's hand. He exchanges a look with my dad, and my dad shakes his head. I narrow my gaze on Jacob's face, and he turns pink under my scrutiny.
"Dad, what is going on?" Bella asks, and He turns a deep red. Uh-huh. Just what I thought.
"Bella, you know how your mother and I were talking about arranging marriages for you girls…well, you will be meeting your fiancé tomorrow. Jacob is Ali's fiancé." Dad admits. I actually yelp. I turn to look at Bella, who isn't nearly as horrified as I am.
"Dad, how could you…" I snarl, tears welling up in my eyes.
"Ali, it's for your own good…" Dad tries, but I'm not buying it. I turn and run down the driveway, turning to the left and bolting. I hear footsteps behind me and run harder, not seeing the car through my tears until too late. I slam into it, then feel pain…and then nothing is there.
