Rage. Sadness. Anger. Guilt. That's what Sabo felt in that moment. Only a body -not even an entire one- was left of his dear brother. What about him ? What did he do to stop the tragedy ? He only hoped miracles from Whitebeard's crew.

~ A few days ago ~

- SABO-KUN ! This is ... I ... Sorry.. You need to read the news..

Koala, the young revolutionary, reluctantly, gave the newspaper to her friend.

The blond haired had felt something was wrong. At the see of the news, his look got darker. His brother. Portgas D. Ace. The one who, with their younger brother Luffy, had shared so much, the one to who he had to hide his survival, the one who appeared in his thoughts everyday. And the one who was going to be executed.

the hatred he carries towards his enemies was going stronger than ever. How dare they ? What could he do ? The rage made him shaking, his eyes were becoming red, the tears were streaming.

- ... Sabo-kun.. I can imagine what you're going trough but you can't go there

- I know that ! I leave this to his crew and their allies.. as long as they rescue him..

Sabo lived the next days in the fear of losing his dear one. Sometines, he wanted to intervene but he granted a lot of trust in Whitebeard and importance in his actual assignement.

"How is Luffy dealing with this" he was wondering. "As long as he doesn't do stupid things, he is so unpredictable.. and the Government will not miss the chance to defeat him too".

This is how the days went.. He had not a single idea of the way Luffy was sacrificing for their brother, the way he had freed him, the way he had holded Ace when he fell in his arms, almost dead, protecting him. He had not a single idea of their brothers' pain in that moment.

~ Back when the terrible news came out ~

Portgas D. Ace ,the 2nd division commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, died protecting his stepbrother Monkey D. Luffy, Dragon the Revolutionnary's son.. Sabo's brain stopped at that information. "Ace is dead ? Ace is dead ?" He keep repeating. "Luffy was there ?". Ace is dead in Luffy's arms, nothing worse could have happened. He couldn't hold himself, it was too much. He should have been there for his brothers, as they did when they were kids. He couldn't even see him since their childhood. Leaving them was one thing but he knew their path would cross at some point. Yet, Ace will never know since that accident he was still alive. He couldn't even save his brother.

-RAAAH ! How could I be that dumb ? How could I believe standing idly by things could get better ?! I..

He was in tears. Some wanted to get closer to their chief to make him feel better but Koala who is the one who understand Sabo the most signalled them not to. She knew he had to let off steam, he must be feeling so guilty.. Sabo had never felt that. Losing a brother, being powerless against the death of a person so important. The face of Luffy went back in his mind. It was to save him. He couldn't let his little brother die, it was their promise as big brothers to protect him. Sabo will keep it.

~ 2 years later, Sabo VS Fujitora ~
