A/N: so, the morning after the midnight release of Prince Caspian, my friend decided she didn't like the ending, so she wanted me to re-write it for her. So I did. The end. Disclaimer: Narnia = not mine. C.S. Lewis'. Although, he was friends with my grandma…

Alternate Ending to Prince Caspian

Susan could feel them watching her, all the people, as she turned the leave through the arch that Aslan had created. She spared the Prince – now King – half a glance before taking her last steps towards the end of her life in Narnia. His face was calm, but his black eyes reflected all the sadness that she herself was feeling. She made to follow Peter through the archway when a hand closed on her wrist. She turned and looked at it in confusion. The tan hand made a stark contrast to her pale white skin. Her eyes flowed the hand up to an arm, to a shoulder, and finally a face. Caspian's eyes held hers, his expression earnest.

"Stay," he whispered.

"But—" was all Susan managed to say before Caspian interrupted her.

"I love you," he said quickly (think Mr. Darcy from the newest movie). Susan's eyes widened, and Caspian gave a light tug on her arm. Her knees buckled as his arm went around her waist. He looked at her for a moment, and then his lips met hers. Several of the onlookers gasped, and Edmund wolf-whistled. Lucy let out a surprised little giggle, and Caspian pulled away.

"I'm, eh, not sure how you do this where you come from," he said quietly, "but…will you do me the honour of accepting my hand in marriage?" He fumbled in his pocket for and pulled out an emerald ring. Susan gasped and put her hands to her face. She turned to Aslan.

The Lion nodded once. Smiling, Susan turned back to the Prince.

"Yes," she whispered, as tears of joy began to cascade down her cheeks. She threw her arms around Caspian's neck and kissed him again as the citizens clapped and cheered. The noise died down as Aslan spoke.

"I give you King Caspian and Queen Susan, rulers of Narnia."
