...Snowflakes... Interesting little specks, aren't they?

Think about it. Most people tend to overlook them. I mean, why wouldn't they? From a regular stand point, they're just little white dots floating in front of you when it snows. Thing is, they're not at all the same. You'd need to have a careful eye to spot the differences.

Like, very careful. I'm talking about the eyes of a hawk, here, or at least a microscope.

Snowflakes rarely, if ever, look exactly the same as the other. As a guy who conjures them for a living - if you could call what I do 'living' - I can say with one hundred percent certainty that it's true!

Yeah, sure, every now and then I get a pair that might look like one another, but once you get down to it, they're not the same. The difference could be as simple as the tiiiiiiiniest little chip on the corner. I swear, man, it's almost mathematical, though I'm not the person to ask about stuff like that.

But yeah, I've conjured up every snowflake I could possibly think of, and never have I ever seen the same one more than once. And I've had quite the long time to keep an eye out, too, lemme tell ya.

I've never seen the same snowflake twice... except for once.

Now, this particular snowflake was special, because it didn't belong to Nature. It didn't belong on Earth, either. No, this one came from the Moon. The Man in the Moon, to be more specific... but that's a mouthful, so let's just call him 'Manny.'

The Snowflake was a gift from him to a royal family that reminded him of a good memory. And not a moment too soon, if you ask me.

Manny granted them a blessing. A blessing that would change that family's life, the lives of her people... and mine.

This is the story of how the name 'Jack Frost' spread across the world, thanks to that Snowflake. My Snow Queen... My Elsa.

*(Song End)*

So, to start this story off right, we gotta start back a bit. I mean, waaaaay back. Like, even 'before my time' back.

I'm talking about The Golden Age. A time where cosmic travel was abundant, airships would cross the Sea of Stars, and imagination and fairness were the norm. Basically, from what I heard later on, it was a pretty cool time to be alive.

But like all good things... it had to come to an end. Nightmares and shadows ravaged the Golden Age, destroying the prosperity they had made for themselves. The Nightmare King, Pitch Black, set out to destroy the Golden Age, turning everything into Nightmares! The Dark Ages had begun.

At the end of it all, life was still here, but not without a price. And one of the most prominent survivors of this catastrophe was the son to the Lunanoff family: Tsar Lunar... AKA Manny.

Throughout his escape, he lost both of his parents, and ended up landing on - you guessed it - the Moon. His buddy, Sanderson Mansnoozie the Sandman - that's another mouthful; let's just call him 'Sandy' - was another prominent survivor, having crash landed on Earth after escaping Pitch's onslaught. Manny saw Sandy through this big telescope he had, and together, formed a pact to protect the people of the blue and green planet they had stumbled upon: Earth.

These would be the first two members of The Guardians. Manny would be the Guardian of the Children of Earth, and Sandy would be the Guardian of Dreams.

The rest after that is ancient history. The Dark Ages continued, fear being more present than ever before. But before long, more members were added to the Guardians. Nicholas St. North, or Santa Claus, as people call him nowadays. He's the Guardian of Wonder. E. Aster Bunnymund, the Easter Bunny... Or Kangaroo. Pooka? Is that what he's called? I dunno, it just seems to me that he's still just a pretty big rascally rabbi- I'm getting off track. He's also a Guardian; the Guardian of Hope. And finally Toothiana, the Tooth Fairy. She's the Guardian of Memories.

Together, they managed to drag the Boogeyman back into his hole, bring an end to the Dark Ages, and usher in a new age of peace. One that would be threatened in the distant future...

Dang it, got off topic again. None of that has anything to do with my story... Well, kinda, but not too much.

As the Guardian of the Children of Earth, Manny would always be watching from afar. With his big telescope, he could see everything and anything that happened on Earth. Nothing was beyond his sight.

But then one night... Sandy brought something in particular to his attention.

Silence... One would have thought that these days, the castle would be loud with cries of joy and celebration. Months of planning had gone into preparation for these days, and the time had come and gone with little fanfare.

If only things had not taken a turn for the worst.

"Then... you are certain, then?... There is nothing more that can be done?"

"Forgive me, Your Majesty. I have done a thorough analyses, and... Well, I'm afraid the child was born too frail. Far too frail, if I do say so myself... The only thing that can be do now is... to say your farewells..."

The first man, the one who spoke first, said nothing, his green eyes forming a grim expression. The man had well-combed, strawberry blonde hair, with sideburns on the sides of his head, and a mustache over his lips. He wore a black royal tunic, with a maroon lining going around his collar and the middle of his tunic, with intricate designs on them. He wore ornate epaulettes over his shoulders, and wore grey slacks. He had a regal bearing to him, but it was quickly becoming chiseled away with the distress of what he had just been told.

Finally, he let out a heavy breath, and then bowed towards the physician. "...Thank you, Doctor, for all you have done."

The older medic could only return the bow in deep empathy. "My sympathies, King Agnarr."

At that, the other man turned to leave, leaving the other gentleman, King Agnarr of Arendelle, to himself and his thoughts.

In truth, there was not really much going on through his mind, save for a immense sense of dread, fear, and despair. Slowly, he ran a hand through his weary features, before turning to look at the door both men had stood before. Taking another exhale of breath, he opened the door, and entered through the doorway.

Inside was a bedroom, with a large bed with blue and green covers over a large window overlooking the winter night of the Winter Solstice. The aurora borealis was out in the night sky, and a fire was burning over the fireplace to the side. Various frames, paintings, and other oddities surrounded the walls with ornate wallpapers.

Though all of this would catch any outsider's eye, the King's eyes were solely on the woman hunched over on the bed towards the headboard. The woman's long brown hair was loose, some falling behind the back of her light blue sleeping gown. Her eyes were sorrowfully looking down at the bundle around her right arm, shivering, and breathing shakily.

A baby, with brown tufts of hair like her mother's.

"...Iduna," Agnarr whispered tentatively, carefully. "The doctor returned with his findings... They did not bode well."

If she had heard him, she did not give any indication to it.

The King grimaced, before pleadingly attempting to reassure his queen. "There's still hope, my love. We can still save our daughter!"

This time, Queen Iduna did utter a word. "Agnarr..."

"I need only find the book," he continued, sounding more panicked than he was reassuring. "The Trolls, the map! If I can find where your father left it, we can...!" He swallowed whatever lump was in his throat, and spoke again. "The medicines of men cannot heal her. Perhaps the magics outside can...!

"Agnarr."

The Queen did not scream, but her voice managed to catch her beloved's attention. Her's however, was still on the child in her arms.

"Our child... has been in pain all day. And we cannot do a thing to ease it..." she whimpered, bringing the babe closer to her chest, her arms cradling her tentatively, as if worried she would break her. "What solutions we could try... will need to come tomorrow. But our child..." Her eyes finally turned to her husbands, tears pleadingly trailing rivulets down her cheeks. "She needs us tonight."

Agnarr's face fell with stunned realization, before nodding in grim acceptance. "Yes... She needs us now."

Smiling sadly, Iduna bowed her head gratefully to him, before turning back the baby. "Sleep, little one... Sleep, and go to better shores for the night."

The queen gently, carefully, rocked the baby girl in her arms, before taking a deep breath... and sung for her child.

*(Still Dream - Renee Fleming - Rise of the Guardians Original Soundtrack)*

Now, what most people gotta remember is that the Guardians only ever protect the children, and even people who are children at heart. They listen to their Hopes, Wonders, Memories, and Dreams. But then you've got babies, which, while technically considered children, are still not developed enough to have concrete desires and wishes. In this case, there's a little leeway in that we hear the desires and wishes of their parents through the dreams of the baby.

If - and only if - their desires and wishes are strong enough.

...And sure enough, Sandy was around to hear the Queen's wishes through her baby's.

He brought this to Manny's attention, and turned his big eye of a telescope to the despairing parents-to-be.

But what he couldn't believe was the song she was singing... for it was one that he knew all too well. The song was a lullaby, one that had been sung to him as a child by his mother, the Tsarina.

Manny could not believe it! Throughout the catastrophe of the Dark Ages, one thing from his past managed to survive. He couldn't fathom how it was that this lullaby was able to make it to the people on Earth. And yet it did, bringing back all of the Memories, Hopes, Dreams, and Wonders coming right back to him.

That the song itself survived was a miracle... and he decided to be generous, and provide a miracle of his own. He would save the newborn girl doomed to die in few day's time if nothing was done about it.

Despite what those that knew of him might think, Manny wasn't exactly standing idly by on the Moon since crash landing all those years ago. His time on the Moon had changed him, granting him a whole bunch of new abilities and powers, one of which was shining down the Moon's pale light, and granting certain people... 'gifts,' for lack of a better term. But only to those with pure of heart.

He'd never tried it on a living being before, though... I think. But he knew for sure that it would grant them the miracle the royals of Arendelle desired for their child.

Using the very essence of the Moon itself, he used his magic to craft together a miracle powerful enough to save the little girl. A miracle... in the shape of a blue, crystalline snowflake the shape of which was unlike any ever seen before it.

And just like he had done before... he shined his Moon's pale light down on Earth. And not for the first time, from the goodness of his heart.

...And maaaybe something else.

*(Song End)*

Iduna let out a mixture of a sob and sigh as she finished singing, closing her eyes as tears continued to freely fall. Agnarr had gone and sat down beside her, hugging her close with one arm while his other hand caressed their sickly baby's forehead, tears beginning to well up in his own eyes.

The shaking had seemed to go down, but what exactly that meant, neither parent was willing to guess or consider.

However, something else soon drew their attention: the room becoming illuminated by a light coming from outside.

Looking out, they saw that the Moon had begun to glow so brightly, it was hard to look at. At first, the light was white. Before long, though, the glow began to change into a blue hue, changing into a darker shade of blue, yet not dark enough to be terrifying. More like, it was eerie, but in a rather pretty, enchanting way.

"Agnarr, wh-what's happening?" the queen whispered to her king.

"I... I don't..." His Majesty muttered, just as lost as she was.

Then, the bright blue light condensed to a single source, which, miraculously, seemed to have phased right through the large window. As it came closer, both royals were surprised to see a bright blue, crystal snowflake slowly wading its way in their direction.

Before they even realized it, the Snowflake had landed right over their newborn. Upon making contact, it shone brightly, blinding both parents in shock and stupor.

"Agnarr, what's happening?!"

"No! What?!"

After another bewildering moment, the light finally began to subside, allowing both adults to see that the Snowflake had somehow sunk into the babe. The light finally subsiding signaled that the ice had disappeared, or otherwise merged with the baby.

It was then that they were witness to another shocking sight.

Changes slowly began to manifest with the newborn, two being the most prominent. Before, the girl was sickly pale, almost as if to the hue of a corpse. But after the Snowflake disappeared, her skin had become more healthier. The flush of red was even on her cheeks. The most visible change happening before their eyes, however, was that the baby's tuft of brunette hair - the one so much alike her mother's - was now changing to that of a platinum blonde.

Both monarchs watched in stupor mixed with concern and awe as their little girl's transformation finally finished taking hold.

Iduna muttered aloud, "Her face... She looks healthier..."

"But how?... How is this...?" the king stuttered.

The looks on both of their faces, however, after getting past their Wonder, were beginning to light up with newfound Hope.

Then, the baby's face scrunched up, before blearily opening up to reveal wide, lively blue eyes.

Her eyes then lidded over again, scrunching up once more to let out a sneeze.

A sneeze that ushered in three snowflakes popping out.

Blinking again, the baby reached out for her parents, cooing and giggling all the while.

Iduna, watching in amazement as her daughter seemed to come to life, let out a laugh mixed in with a sob, before addressing her husband. "Agnarr, bring the doctor back in! Tell him to take another look at our child!"

Agnarr, his face having lit up at his daughter's awakening, nodded before all but bolting out the door. "Kai! Gerda! Bring the doctor back in, posthaste!"

The Queen cradled her daughter in her arms, caressing her as if letting go would all but make her disappear. "Oh, my baby girl!... My darling Elsa!..."

...And that's how her story began. How the girl who would grow up to be Queen Elsa of Arendelle, the Snow Queen, was born.

The doctor would come back, weighed her at seven pounds, and, you guessed it, he gave the baby royal a clean bill of health. Her parents couldn't have been any happier.

And, on a totally related note, the kingdom reported an unnatural weather phenomenon that covered the town in ice crystals on that same day.

The king and queen welcomed their new baby girl with open arms. And three years later, with miraculously no problems this time, they welcomed a new daughter, and on the day of the Summer Solstice, no less. Princess Anna of Arendelle was born. A seemingly ordinary girl, who would turn out to be more extraordinary than anyone could have guessed. A true Believer.

But while everything seemed to be going good for the Royal Family of Arendelle, one thing became instantly apparent in those early years. Elsa was special, and not just because of her miraculous revival. It wasn't long before she and her parents found out what Manny's gift had bestowed upon her.

The power to control ice and snow.

At first, there was no problems. Elsa would only ever use her gifts to play with her little sister, and Anna loved every second of it, but not as much as she loved being with her big sister.

But... like the Golden Age all those years ago... all good things had to come to an end at some point.

And as luck would have it... it just so happened to be on the very day I first arrived in Arendelle.

-PROLOGUE END

AN: So, this is a venture I've been entertaining for quite a few years now. While there are certainly others who have tried their hands at this type of outline, I wanted to give it a go, with my own personal spin on things.

A few details on this piece: I wanted to find a way to connect Manny into the story at least in an unofficial capacity. I always wondered how exactly I could incorporate Jack into the story of Frozen later on, and I believe I've found a healthy compromise and method no one has ever used before.

Now, the version of Jack Frost I'm using for this story is for sure the movie version, but I've also added some aspects of the Guardians of Childhood series into this, to kind of world-build in a way. It will mostly be centered on the movie version, but some characters later on will be based on their backgrounds from the books. You'll see what I mean.

And yes, there is going to be lyrics, and singing, and Jack's gonna be part of it. I'll liken his attitude towards it to be similar to Maui in Moana, in the sense that he'll sing, but other times he's gonna call some people out on it. There's definitely fun to be had, especially since the songs he sings will be original pieces written by me. I'll try my best to describe how the music would sound in the Author's notes before or after the chapters.

To be clear, this is an unofficial retelling of Frozen, plus Jack Frost, and other characters. Therefore, I am going to need ideas for when the time for Jack to be a mentor and best friend to little Elsa comes. So any suggestions on your guys' parts would be greatly appreciated. Anything that includes Jack watching over Anna's antics would also be appreciated also.

Also, let me be clear now: THERE IS NO RISE OF THE BRAVE TANGLED FROZEN DRAGONS, OR ANY OTHER UNNEEDED SERIES THAT ARE GOING TO BE IN THIS FIC! The only ones are Rise of the Guardians, Frozen, and Tangled due to their cameo in Frozen. If it doesn't make sense in being here, then I have no interest in including it to my plot.

And finally, this IS a Jelsa fic. However, whether or not they'll be intimate, like full on kissing or such is still up in the air. Maybe kissing on the cheek, but nothing too intimate will be official as of yet, especially considering William Joyce's comments on Jack and romance, and the potentiality of what could happen in Frozen II.

Frozen II and Kingdom Hearts III reignited my Jelsa Fever. Let's see how far we can go with this!

Again, suggestions and prompts for the years leading up to the Coronation and the deaths of the King and Queen are greatly appreciated. Let me know on the reviews, or even PM me to give your ideas.

Thank you once more. And remember...
