Skye and Jo chapter 1

Jo's P.O.V

"Your secret is out. For decades your organization has stayed in the shadows, hiding the truth. But now we know: they're among us, heroes, and monsters. The world is full of wonders." I recited perfectly into the speaker of Skye's laptop as she monitored the hack into S.H.I.E.L.D.

For the last two days we had been holed up in the van preparing this hack to ensure it was perfect; Skye's better than anybody I've ever seen, but S.H.I.E.L.D is one of the biggest hacks we've done in a long time and we weren't taking any chances that they could track this back to us.

"Great job Jo!" Skye said after she stopped the recording and turned off the laptop, "I think we should go celebrate"

It was almost relieving to me that I could be of so much use to her on the technical side; I usually worked on the other side of things: going undercover, lying Skye and I into a place if that's where she needed to be for a hack, taking out (Knocking out) security if things went south. I've been doing this since I was little.

I first meet Skye, at 6 years old, I was worried she'd take me back to the horrible people I was staying with, but instead she took me in and I've never looked back. I'm able to keep fit because the owner of a gym a couple blocks away from the van gave me a free membership if I come and clean the machines once a week. It's not the best origin story, but I'm happy to have what I do, and to have a big sister like Skye.

Now I'm 16 and we're a team, I go in to do whatever 'fieldwork' is necessary and Skye gets us invites, hacks, and does a lot of other computer related things. We're both members of the rising tide because, though I'm not quite as good as Skye I've gotten very good at the computer stuff too.

"Sounds good" I replied, letting out the smallest of smiles.

Our celebrations were usually small things: going to the movies, or going out for dinner at the local diner, but we appreciated them just the same.

"Alrighty then let's go" she said as we got out of her van that I officially named, "T.A.M.I" (stands for, Totally, Awesome, Mobile, Itinerant! A name Skye came up with when she was really drunk).

We stepped onto the busy streets of New York and were blending into the crowds while I checked for anybody on our tail. Just out of the corner of my eye I spotted one of the people we've researched walk into centipede's lab.

"Hey, Skye look" I pointed the woman out to her. She turned to look at the building in front of us and got out her phone to start filming it. The second after she started filming the top level of the building went up in flames

Then, just as we had ushered our way to the front of a forming crowd, a man jumped from several stories high with a women in his arm.

"Come on" Skye ushered even further forward and the hooded man noticed.

He slowly backed away at first then took to a run; but neither of us was worried, we'd have him located and intercepted by the end of the day.

"Whoa!" I exclaimed followed by Skye nodding. She ended the video feed and we raced back to the van.

"Holy crap did you see that? That was awesome! He jumped of the building to save that girl and wasn't even hurt by the looks of it! You know what, we need to get to him before S.H.I.E.L.D does" Skye rambled.

"I agree, and what we'll need a distraction in order to pull this off" I stated, now in full tactical mode.

London, England

Wards P.O.V

"Agent Ward there's been a development with the rising tide; they pinned down the location of the package. We need to aboard" My handler spoke through the com unit.

"I'm five minutes away from retrieving it" I replied, annoyed.

"So is everyone else, they posted the coordinates online!" I rolled my eyes; I work better under pressure anyways.

"If the job was easy-"

"Ya ya it wouldn't be any fun"

I walked through the staff door of the restaurant after taking off my helmet and jacket to reveal a suit; once I made it through the kitchen, I looked around.

"Red tie by the window" he said through com. I walked up to the man with the platter in my hands.

"Puis-je prendre votre Monsieur de verre?" I asked in perfect French.

"Oui" the man replied.

Quickly, I walked up the stairs scanning the handprints from the glass on the platter and entering the apartment. After a couple seconds of observing, I slid the white cloth off of the tray and turned on its ex-ray function.

There it is! I thought as I opened the fake fireplace mantle and grabbed the small pouch containing the package. As I turned around to make my way out, a woman stood across the room from me, staring at me with a look of simple annoyance.

"Uh, you fireplace is broken" I tried. She just rolled her eyes and walked away.

Good, civilian is out of the line of fire, I thought as I saw two men approaching me out the corner of my eye. Then two they came at me. In a blur I was ready and punching the one guy into the wall and tripping the other. The one guy had me in a choke hold as my handlers voice came over the com line, "Ward we have possible hostiles in your vicinity".

"Really?" I grunted sarcastically and got out of the hold.

Finally I had managed to knock one out cold and moved the fight to the kitchen. I came at the hostile with the fridge door, slamming it into his face and for a second he hesitated out of pain, which was all I need to smash a drawer in his face and throwing one last punch to knock him out for good.

With both of the targets knocked out, I headed outside to the rendezvous point on the roof. I climbed up to the roof and got to the top just in time to hear the helicopter come by. I grabbed onto the rope and we went over for a little while until they hulled me up. Next I would be debriefed by Commander Hill herself, which had me slightly worried, of course I wouldn't let it show, but you had to do something significantly wrong or significantly right to be debriefed by the deputy director of SHIELD.

Hi guys hope you like it! Just in the process of revising the chapters and fixing mistakes so hopefully you like the changes! Reviews appreciated!
