Some say that time changes,
best friends can become strangers
But I don't want that, no not for you
If you just stay with me we can make it through

"Stan! Stan, come back!" Kyle yelled to his friend's retreating figure.

"Come back? Seriously, come back? After what you just did to me, you still have the audacity to tell me to come back?" Stan said in disbelief.

"I…I didn't mean to do it. I swear, I just got carried away"

"Oh, wow, that makes me feel so much better. Fuck off" And with that, Stan walked out of the school, leaving whom he had thought was his best friend behind.

"Stan…" Kyle said exasperatedly. Damn it, he thought to himself. The boy looked down at his right hand, which was now stained with blood from Stan's nose. He really hadn't meant to punch him. They had just been arguing about Stan's girlfriend, Wendy Testaburger, for about the third time that day. Insults were thrown around, and eventually the anger coming from Kyle's mouth traveled to his fist.

Kyle sighed to himself. Ever since 6th grade had started, his relationship with Stan had rapidly deteriorated. He had started hanging out with different people, all of who were bad news, leaving Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman in the dust.

And it was all that bitch Wendy's fault, Kyle thought furiously. Even though she broke Stan's heart in 4th grade, he still got back together with her. Her friends became his "friends", and his social life revolved around her. Kyle only got to see him at lunch and recess.

And after today, I won't even see him then, Kyle knew. With that thought playing through his mind, Kyle began to walk home, not realizing that a tear was running down his cheek.

Meanwhile, Stan was just walking through his front door. He went into the bathroom to get cleaned up before his parents could see the dried blood on his face. After a minute with a washcloth, Stan went into the kitchen to greet his mom and grab a snack.

Half an hour later, Stan went up to his room to do his homework. He laid all his books out on his desk, and was about to sit down, when something caught his eye. It was a picture of him and Kyle that was taken a year ago at the Broflowski's. He had been sleeping over, and was watching a movie on the couch with Kyle. They were huddled under a blanket, and both of them had fallen asleep. Apparently, Kyle's mom couldn't resist taking a picture of that.

Stan picked it up, and was about to throw it in the trash, but found he was unable to do so. Instead, he wrapped it up in a shirt and hid it in a dresser drawer. Stan buried his head in his arms, trying to figure out how he and Kyle had gone from that to fistfights.
