Restless Night

Disclaimer: I do not own Lunar or any of it's characters. I
only wrote for them. I also do not own the lyrics or the tune to
which Luna sings her lullaby. That belongs to a tv show that I
watch. Now here's the story.

Luna was scared, but she'd never let onto it. She was trying
to be strong. The other singers didn't need to know that she was as
scared, or more scared then they were. She was being strong for
them, comforting their fears, waiting for the day that Alex would
save her. Alex, she'd known him since before she could
remember. He was her best friend, well he was more than that, but
she had never really told him how she felt. Now she wished she
had. What if she never got another chance? She knew he would try
to save her, but what if the obstacles got too hard? She couldn't
help but worry about him.
In the middle of the night, Luna awoke from a dream, well
more of a nightmare really. Alex had given up on his quest to find
her. Between this dream and her mystery dream she was so
confused. Did they have anything to do with each other? She got
up and went to the nailed-shut window. She gazed at the star-lit
sky and remembered the first night on the Hispaniola. She had
been so unsure of everything.
"Oh Alex, please don't give up. I don't know what Ghaelon
has up his sleeve, but I'll be waiting for you to save me." she
sighed. What if Alex didn't feel the same way she did? Of course
he'd still try to save her, but if he only saw her as a friend, she
didn't know what she'd do. Why does it have to be so hard to tell
someone how you feel?
"Luna?" came the voice of the youngest singer. " I can't
sleep" Lunar looked into the eyes of the young girl. She was only about
eight or nine. It was insane, Quark had said she was 'the
one' whatever that meant. What did that have to do with the
others? Why were they there? She picked up the little girl and
rocked her back and forth singing a lullaby.
"Sleep, oh babe, for twilight falls, across the land of Lunar,
the crickets, sing you a lullaby, beside the dying fire." Her soft
voice had calmed the girls' fears and put her to sleep. Luna carried
the girl back to her bed and tucked her in. She turned around to
return to the window, when Xenobia appeared before her.
"You'd better get some sleep now, it will be the last night of
restful sleep you'll get!" she sneered, envious of Luna. Why should
she get Master Ghaelon's attention instead of me? she asked
herself. "What's going on? Luna demanded. Xenobia laughed
as a response. "Oh, you'll find out soon enough." she remarked
slyly as she disappeared.
Luna sighed and returned to the window. "Alex." she said
softly. "No matter what happens, please don't give up on me!" she
pleaded with the stars. "Please Alex, I love you." She had finally
admitted it; however, he was not there to hear it! She sighed and
returned to her bed and dreamt of Alex.
