"Yuuri-san?" Sion sat down next to her, ignoring the chill against his skin as the wind picked up. If Yuuri had been out here all morning, then he could endure it for a few minutes.

"You've been out here for awhile. You must be cold." She didn't look at him-- but then again, he hadn't expected her to. "Um, I'm not saying you should come inside or anything, if you're out here in this weather you must have a reason-- but you don't have to tell me that, either." He held up the canister he had brought with him. "I made some chicken soup for you, though. It'll keep you warm."

She still wasn't looking at him, but she hadn't told him to go away, either. Sion took that as a sign that it was okay to continue. "And I know you don't need my help, but... I wanted to."

Was it his imagination, or was it getting colder? "I... I'm not going to pretend to know what it feels like to have your family taken away from you. But I do know what it's like to grow up without a family." He shivered slightly. "I know what it's like to be alone."

At this point, he would've pretended to smile, but since Yuuri's gaze was still fixed on the dull gray sky, he didn't see the point. "So I guess that's why I feel... like I can relate to you. I understand what you've gone through, at least a little." He stared at his shoes as he let the wind chill him to the bone. "And I guess I felt... since I can understand I should try to help."

"Thank you, Sion. This is a big help." Even though she said it out loud, he still had trouble believing he had actually heard it. For the first time since he'd approached her, she looked at him, giving that twitch of her lips that Sion had come to realize with time was her best attempt at a smile. "Now get back in the house before you freeze to death."

He beamed back at her before walking away, rubbing his hands and arms briskly as he did so. Once he was out of eyesight, Yuuri opened the lid, and gave Sion's soup a sniff. She decided it was safe and took a sip.

She grimaced. "He's an even worse cook than me."

It didn't taste good, but it was warming her up. And that was what she needed, Yuuri reminded herself as she finished the meal Sion had made for her.
