There could never be anything like the first.
And so, there had never been a second.
Mirajane could watch him all day, and if Laxus was honest with himself for one day in his life, that's just how he wanted her: trapped in the past. There was a day her ambition, drive, and sanity were stolen from her, and on that day, they had parted ways.
He hated to see her in the guild serving beers and being everybody's sweet friend. Laxus longed for the day when Macao asked for a beer and she slammed his face into the table.
She was a demon, and she forgot.
She was a monster, and she hid it.
She was his, and she denied it.
Her powers had only started to surface in dire situations, but afterward, she'd shrink back into a shell made of paper wishes and honey.
It was getting late, and he watched her with the eyes of a man who had not a good intention in the world. She caught his gaze and returned a glare that insisted he mind his own business, at which he chuckled and hung over the rail.
"Mirajane, that's an ugly face you're making right now," he antagonistically purred.
She softened her gaze slightly. "Laxus, did you need something?"
"I need you to come sit on my lap."
The whole guild silenced, and the woman blushed a little and shot one more hateful glare up at him before she turned back to her work while he laughed at her discomfort. Yes, he could see her, and she was getting ready to wake up.
As he left the guild, she followed him out and asked, "Laxus, why do you do that? That was a long time ago."
Laxus turned and took a step closer to her, leaning down so his mouth hovered above hers. Her breath caught, her heart started to rush, and he spoke against her lips, "You can make any excuse you want. Your body is crying out for me to touch it. I can hear your heart pounding."
She turned away. "You remember then? In the forest? You were my first, and I was your first. And you were so gentle and it was amazing, but that second time…"
"A dragon and a demon had a little romp and destroyed half the forest. You were satisfied, several times if I remember. Not too bad for a rookie, hm?" He leaned in and whispered, "I've gotten better."
Mirajane shivered and took a step back. "We can't…"
"Why? You're too busy playing barmaid? Watching you live your life is like watching a fierce animal trapped in a tiny cage. They look at the tiger, because it's caged…if it was free, they wouldn't dare."
"And you?"
He ran his hand through her long white hair. "I want the beast. Wild, rough, powerful…I've got to have it, and you want to drop your cute little act and give it to me."
Something flashed in her eyes and a slight dragon rumble emanated from his chest, causing her to tremble to the core.
Mirajane took a step back and gave him a devilish grin. "You're not a bad guy when you're not horny, you know."
"And when I am?"
She shook her head. "Absolutely intolerable."
"So satisfy my craving and I'll be a good boy."
Mirajane took a step back and transformed into Satan Soul form, then leapt into the air, wings flapping. "Is this what you want?"
Laxus reached for her just as she transformed back into her normal clothes.
"I'm on my period."
His countenance dropped in half a second. "Maybe we could…"
"NO, Laxus. Just no." Mirajane gave him a pat on the head. "Goodnight. I'll probably be over you by next week, so don't get your hopes up."
"It's not my hope being 'up' that's uncomfortable right now."
She turned and waved him off. "Typical. Always want to tease, but can't take it yourself. Goodnight, Laxus."
