As the tears fall down my face, I can't help but remember why. It hurts to think of why, but I can't stop. The loss of my dear friend and possibly something more is devastating, but it's just too much to keep remember how and why it happened.
He was standing in the middle of the arena across from her. She was the princess, and the most evil and vile person ever. I was standing on the sidelines, watching with wide eyes. They soon began to send blast of inferno. I was almost blinded by the brilliantness of the detonations.
It too soon ended when she sent an arrow of lightning headed straight for him. I whispered the word 'no'. There was nothing I could do to stop the horrid disaster from happening.
He went flying through the air, and landed with a huff and a cloud of smoke around him. I tried to run to him, to save him from certain death, but she stopped me from achieving my goal. I had to quickly jump out of the way to protect myself from the ongoing attack.
I went tumbling to the ground and somersaulted back onto my feet. I gathered water from the nearby stream. As quickly as I could to repel an attack on her, it wasn't enough. She was quicker. She called upon more lightning, and shot it at me.
I was no match for deflecting lightning. I had to hurry to reach safety within the arena. She was very good at coming back with an attack, though. Lightning was shot at me from every angle. I wondered if I would make it out alive or more importantly, would he?
His life was more important to me than mine, and the only way he could survive was if she was taken down. I had no idea how I was going to do it, but I knew I had to.
I started out by collecting as much water as I could manage. I swerved it all around me and formed eight long snake- like arms. I called this waterbending form the Octopus. Then I would be ready to deflect almost any attack she threw at me.
Blasts of fire were propelled at me fast. My instincts were quicker though. I rushed my arms in front, blocking the ongoing attack. She was furious that she hadn't exterminated me yet. She started to throw any attack at me.
It wasn't hard to block all of her attacks. I was soon able to shot my arms forward, which made two watery arms launch forward too. She was caught off guard for a brief for lack of breath, but that was all more than enough for me.
She was thrown off the ground, and flew into the palace wall. The impact was enough to kill anyone, and that was that. She had been defeated. Her lifeless body lay on the ground.
I ran as fast as I could to reach him. He was lying face down on the ground. His arms were sprawled out. I finally came upon him. I kneeled down, and rolled him over. Before I could even draw some water from the ground, I realized it was too late. I was too late. He was gone.
I started too wept. He was gone. I could've saved him, but I didn't. There was no way of getting him back. Gone.
A new set of tears ran down my face, leaving a watery trail behind. My eyes soon became blood shot. It was too much. He was gone.
I slowly raised a hand up to my neck. There sat a small red pendent clutching a burgundy ribbon. It had the Water Tribe and Fire Nation insignia mixed together. It stood in place of my mother's necklace. It is tradition to be given a necklace when you propose. It is a symbol of betrothal.
"Oh, Zuko."
