"Right line up" shouted Jack as he paced up and down the harbour.
There wasn't many of them that looked like they would be fit for a crew about to voyage to steal back the black pearl. This was Jack's first thought as he looked at each of them in turn. Wait a minute. Is that a woman.. Jack smiled to himself she didn't stand a chance he thought.
"I've decided which of you are fit to accompany me on this voyage" he announced and started pointing at people. "That's it" he said finally and the others started to leave.
"Jack, Jack can I talk to you a minute" shouted a young lad running slightly to catch up with him.
"It's Captain Sparrow to you boy" said Jack as he turned to face him. "Not anymore I've changed my mind, I don't want to die" cried the boy and ran off before Jack could even say anything.
What was Jack supposed to do now, he was one man short for the job.
"Excuse me. err Captain" came a soft voice. It was the woman that had been in the line. "I couldn't help over hearing but now your one man short. I'd still like to be in the crew" she said hopefully.
Jack stopped to think about this. A woman on board that would be bad luck. But he did need someone to fill the place. Finally he said "How well can you use a sword?"
"Well enough to have won all of my four brothers" was her reply.
"ok you can come but if your lying I'll feed you to the sharks" he said with a grin expecting to frighten the woman. But to his surprise she just laughed and walked off.
How stupid of him now he had two women on board and he didn't even know her name.
"Wait a minute there Jack, is it true? Your letting a woman be part of the crew! You can't take another dame with us. We already have one on board isn't that enough? It's bad luck to have a woman on board, you should know that" said Jack's old friend Took.
"I don't see why not you don't let you crew members tell you what to do, do you?" questioned Miss Swan. "You're right maybe I was too hasty." Replied Jack thoughtfully "You" Jack shouted to the woman.
She stopped and turned and walked back toward Jack. "Yes" she said puzzled but confident.
"I've." Jack stopped and looked from Took to Elizabeth. He had to decide Elizabeth was right if he let his crew tell him what to do now who knows what they might do later, but Took was right as well they couldn't risk another woman on board. "I've just realised that I don't know your name" he said at last.
Took shook his head and walked away muttering "soft in the head, he is."
"Abby" she replied in surprise.
"Welcome aboard Abby" said Will and held out his hand for her to shake.
