Author's Note: There was a Winter Challenge on tumblr and while I missed the first few days, I decided to do a prompt. This was also posted on my main account on tumblr. If you guys think I should do the ones I missed, let me know.

Day 3: Hot Chocolate/ Hot Drinks

Soul cranes her neck over her shoulder to watch Silver struggle with his tie. Shaking her head with a smile, she returns to her task. A task that consisted of the daily routine and art of making coffee.

Regularly, she adds little spices to it, like nutmeg, cinnamon, or clove, when she prepares the beverage. She's not the one for real sugary drinks like hot chocolate. It never got the job done to keep her awake and focused when she works.

Once done pouring the steaming dark liquid from the pot and into a black mug filled with today's secret flavor, she walks over to help someone who apparently can't handle a certain piece of attire.

"…Once, over, and down again." Soul recites, hands moving to properly tie the red material. "Then tuck… and pull."

"I didn't need your help for this."

"Oh? To me it looked like you were having trouble."

As if to spite her, the redhead undoes the tie, and begins to fix it back on his own. Occasionally, he murmurs the little lines she taught him to memorize for the task. Meanwhile, Soul grabs the beverage she prepared, and hands it to Silver just as he takes a seat at the table once finished with his tie.

"Here. The usual, but with today's secret daily flavor!" She announces with a smile.

Silver doesn't say a word as he exchanges looks between the mug in his hand, and her face. "It baffles me as to why you constantly have to add whatever spice that catches your eye at the time to… things."

Soul ignores the quip directed to her cooking style, as she takes a seat across from him to sip on her earlier mug of coffee that was still at the table. A small hum escapes her at the taste, as she briefly closes her eyes. "There's nothing wrong with adding a little spice to everyday things." Bringing the rim to her lips again, she pauses to finish. "You'd be amazed at the results."

"Or the inevitable stomach aches." Silver dully points out with a frown.

Soul groans as her hands tighten around her orange mug. "I'm not pushing you off a bridge to drink it. Empty it out in the sink if it bothers you so much."

"That's being wasteful."

Him and always acting so blunt and too serious about things that didn't need to be taken so seriously in the first place. Sure he has that dorkish side to him, but he's like the most serious dork she's ever met.

Somewhere along her inner musings of reminiscing about that time Silver was parading around in that Arceus-awful Proteam Omega sweater, with the straightest face ever last year, Soul hears him murmur something under his breath. She wasn't sure what he had said, and just when she brings her attention back to him again, he's already tasting the coffee.

"Scuse' me?"

"Peppermint." Silver simply repeats, holding the mug in both hands, eyes closed. "I'm surprised you didn't do this on the first day of December."

Soul's gaze lowers to the floor as her face heats up. "That would have been too obvious."

Before Silver takes another sip, she swears there was a faint smile on his mouth. Not a second later, he peers at her over his mug to ask her what she's giggling about all of a sudden, but Soul shakes her head with a smile.

Adding one simple thing to a daily morning routine actually does make that much of a difference.
