Prologue
Year 2346
The line continued to advance, maintaining heavy losses along the way. Jason moved up, heart exploding through his chest as men were cut down like animals all around him. No matter who they lost, no matter what happened, he had to secure the package. The past few days had been a complete fuck-up. As soon as his platoon had entered the city that was once known as Chicago they had encountered heavy resistance at every street corner. No one knew what was in the package, only that whatever it was, President Carter was adamant about obtaining it at any cost. Jason had heard rumors that it was some sort of time traveling device capable of changing the past and reforming the future. While it was a great thought, Jason never believed in that stuff. He simply dismissed it as a cover-up for whatever it really was. As far as he was concerned, he was getting paid a hefty amount to capture it and return home to his girlfriend. "McClaren, get the fuck up here and help with this door!" Jason was shaken out of his thoughts to see a soldier struggling to get into a house. "Sorry Sarge!" He took a running start and knocked down the door kicking up burning debris into the air. He coughed as it seared his lungs and quickly ducked behind a window in the newly occupied house. "We have to take out that gun emplacement or this whole mission is going to be FUBAR in less than 10 minutes," Jason thought. He grabbed his sniper rifle and accurately dispatched three shots into the enemy line, taking out at least a high ranking officer. "That should slow them down a bit" he thought. As he went to reload, the backdoor to the house burst open and five enemies entered pointing guns at him that he had never seen before. He saw one fire and waited for the inevitable death that awaited, but instead he saw a green light emit and suddenly he was paralyzed. A man walked in with a sly grin on his face and started to speak. "Ah Jason, you've caused me much trouble over these past few years, and it's time I returned the favor." He grinned and approached Jason with a device in his hand. "You will come to... appreciate my methods." The man pressed a button and suddenly everything went black.
