Author's Note: Warning! The writing below is mostly dialogue - that was a rule unfortunately. This was orignally an assignment, but I couldn't stop my own ego and so it's now here for all of you. I purposefully wrote this in the manner that I did because I wanted it to be able to apply to anyone who read it, but Michiru and Haruka are my favorite couple and I simply couldn't resist. Enjoy!
P.S.: reviews are always welcome, though flames will be beaten back with my handy flamethrower...What? If ya can't beat 'em, join 'em. Right?
Daydreamer
"Where do you go when you zone out on me?" After all, one couldn't help but wonder. In the end, all I heard was a simple "Hmm?"
With a sigh I said, "You just seem to have this faraway look in your eyes. Sometimes it's even there when we're having a conversation!" I received a quizzical look for a moment before a distinct twinkle could be perceived in said eyes.
"Well...I go lots of places. Though I guess that sometimes I don't go anywhere at all," you said.
All I could do was raise I an eyebrow and say, "Oh really? And how can that be an answer?"
"It's a truthful one. One moment I might be off walking the rocky outcrops of Ireland or laying in a slowly shifting field of grain under the warm midwest sun. But most often, I'll wander through an ancient forest. There's even a path there for me to follow, it just doesn't always take me to the same destination every time.
"On one trip I ended up in a forest grotto, shielded from the bright sun above by towering boughs. On another, I went riding with wild Mustangs across an open plain. You see? I can't control it and I don't always arrive in a defined landscape. So, I can go lots of places, yet nowhere at all...You're smiling at me like that again. Why?"
"Oh, I'm just wondering if there's anyone else you go to visit in these daydreams of yours," I said.
"Hmm. Now that you mention it, there is one spot that I love to visit. Though I s'pose that's only because of who's waiting there for me."
That was the enigmatic response that I was given, not to mention that those words were uttered through a devilish smirk. I couldn't help but ask, "Should I be worried?"
A slightly thoughtful look accompanied the almost dreaded answer. "No, no. Don't think so. After all, we simply sit beneath an old willow tree and watch the fish swim by in the air. Yeah, and those quirky birds know a tune or two."
My curiosity abounding, I questioned "And just who is this person?"
"Oh, they can go by many names, but I mostly just use yours. I mean, it's you there beside me, shouldn't I call you by your name?"
Looking up into those dreamy eyes with a small smile on my face, I couldn't help but whisper, "Yes, I do believe you should."
